So with this motor layout, is it going to have an additional counter gear or is the motor gonna go reverse?

I like it though, but why phillips in this day and age...

Phillips is easier to make...so the screws are cheaper.

That said, I spent $75 or so, and bought ~all the hex head screws~ So when I build mine, it's going to be hex from the start.

..also kind of a Tamiya trademark, ..they tend to do things their own way (for better or worse).

I personally don't mind the screws in the Tamiya kits, they seem to work well if you have the correct driver and don't over-tighten (normal Philips aren't great in my opinion, -I have been using a nice set from Klein which work very well).

Love the M chassis. Definitely might get one even though the class is dead in my area.

I bought a JIS (japanese industrial standard) driver set some time ago (wish I knew this earlier) and it is absolutely perfect for Tamiya screws. With that said, I will still swap over to hex.

It’s definitely more of a tub chassis where as the M07 / TA07 do not have the raised tub edges, instead have stiffeners on the outer edge of chassis. On this, the chassis stiffener runs down the centre is chassis

Looks like extra counter gear. That wide counter gear is very high, too far to make contact with diff gear.

If those screws were philips... They are JIS, that's why they are so easy to strip. Proper Phillips are OK for plastic chassis

I'm not convinced by that argument. There's plenty of cheap cars that use hex screws.

Seems to have a 4 gear laydown compact gearbox. Seems Tamiya jumps again on the latest Buggy trends which makes sense for me.
Spring choice seems also interesting: Would have thought the kit Comes with the black springs of M06 Pro/ R /M07, but it seems to have the Gold types in front and some silver ones in rear. Canīt wait to get a kit for testing...

This car looks promising, -i'll be curious to see how it compares to the M07 on the track.
I had both an M05 and M06 (actually still have my M06), ..my M06 was always faster yet it took more finesse to get it to handle like my M05. My M05 (for me was more consistent) even though it couldn't put out the power of my M06 (w/ same electronics and motor). If the M08 is a bit tamer than its predecessors it could be a great m-chassis option. I am looking forward to the release and hearing what people think of it.

JIS don't strip if you use the right screwdriver. Problem is that, outside of Japan, most people are using the wrong screwdriver...

Phillips is worse in this application IMHO.

As far as the car goes, I think it is "interesting"... but I definitely welcome having a new chassis that will give "scale" drivetrains. Hate to see MX-5s on M-07s!
