I say for now just use all your old equipment. Just cycle your batteries and see if they still work or not (probably won't), if not buy some new ones. If you get new batteries it's probably a good idea to get your current chargers software upgraded. Get a motor to run what ever class you want to race if you don't already have one. Then go race!! Check out all the cars/equipment at your track and see what to get. Your current equipment will be fine for a while.

I have 15 year old Nicads that still work. I should really cycle them and see if they still hold 1200mah... hahaha....

How should I cycle them? Any way in particular?

I charged one NiCad 2000 pack I had and it seemed to work good. Now if it would last an entire 4 minutes with a hot modified in race conditions, not sure.

What???? It was a "tamiya only" race right?
Actually not, they won the last 2 WC in touring, one with their TRF 414M in south africa and the second with the TRF 415 in florida. Not to mention winning a lot of the major races around the world . TRF cars are certainly among the best cars out there, if not THE best
