Cheap touring car suggestions
I'm looking to get back into TC on the cheap, starting with some 25.5 and potentially some USGT. I had been looking at the 3racing sakura xi sport nu and the 3racing advance evo 2k18. I previously had an xray t-4, but I'm not dropping lots of coin on a chassis these days, so I'm looking at the cheap touring car arena and trying to make a decision. Out of the two 3racing cars, it almost seems dumb to buy the nu sport with it's plastic standard bore shocks for $100 vs the completely pimpped out low profile big bores and aluminum city that is the evo 2k18 at $230. Are there any other options out there for good TC platforms that aren't as expensive as the top end Awesomatix and Xrays?
I've already picked up a Motiv MC2 25.5 and have an ORCA 7500 (kinda old) pack to start me out. I'm also looking at getting the justock esc—I assume for 17.5 and 25.5, there's no reason that would be a problem?

No doubt, my old t4 14 came used at $150 before. Not sure I want to go down the x-ray route though. Kinda looking for something new. I'm no slouch on the race track and I kinda wanna see what I can do with one of the cheap cars. Also, gonna be getting some for the kids, so I'll need a few in the end.

A well maintained used performance chassis (Xray, Ae , yokomo) will almost always beat the cheaper manufacturers in performance. These cars also come with the Benefits of having hundreds of setups and the fact that they can have strong parts support for years (especially Ae and Xray). With the used market selling cars for under 50% of what they sold for only a year back, it would be much wiser to buy a used performance TC.

There is only one choice... nothing can come close to XQ1S right now. A hundred dollar car that can win National titles.

Never owened a XQ1S but I did get to drive one throughout a club race and I was honestly shocked at how well the car drove. As far as Sakura or 3racing go, I had the Sakura ultimate and it was by far the best car they have made in my opinion. Keep in mind the 3racing cars are great but do break alot so either stock up on parts or find some older stronger parts to work. I use top photon arms on mine.

I bought the 3Racing XI/Nu Sport. One for me, and one for my son. I'm wishing that I'd have seen the 2K18 because now most of both of our cars has been updated. I don't know if it was out when I bought these though, but I know for sure that I'd buy it over the XI Sport for myself now. As for my son, I'd probably still get him the XI Sport.

This question comes up time to time,
I personally will not go the cheap route again, -i've done it several times and has always regretted it. Cheap cars are cheap for a reason, -poor fitment, quality, parts, you name it. I personally do not care for anything from 3Racing, I find that there tolerances are not very good. I don't have 1st hand experience w/ the Xpress $100 car that many on this thread have mentioned so its possible this car is an exception??
Personally I'd recommend getting a used, Team Associated TC7.1 -its a simple car, easy to work on, parts are readily available and not overpriced. If you do go used, do yourself a favor and tear the car down completely then clean and rebuild to the factory spec's.

You will have to think for yourself a bit more when it comes to setup, (though it's not so different from any other standard TC). I can report that the suspension arms aren't as fragile as you may think.
Of course, if you find a well maintained 2nd hand 'big brand' car with all the spares etc that may be a better deal, but you can never tell just how well a used car has been built/looked after (unless buying from a close friend).

I’ve bought a number of used touring cars without problems. Most have been setup so much better then I could I don’t change anything. Most in RC outside of racing don’t have much interest in Touring cars.
