The Reedy Race is proud to announce that the Sweep EXP EVO-R2 36 (EXP-36R2PG) has been chosen as the spec tire for the 2019 Reedy International Touring Car Race of Champions. The 36R2 provides high-grip and consistent lap times on Steel City Speedway’s ultra-smooth, sugar-watered surface while withstanding the high temperatures and speeds the facility is known for.

Each paid entry includes one set of marked and numbered Sweep EXP EVO-R2 36 tires. Drivers will be allowed to purchase an additional three sets of marked and numbered tires for use as they please for qualifying and triple main events. There is no limit to the number of tires a driver may purchase for practice, but tires used during controlled practice seeding rounds must be marked tires purchased at the event. Tires for non-scored controlled practice rounds or pre-race testing can be purchased at the event or at www.sweepracingusa.com.

After careful consideration, tire sauce selection will once again remain open for all 13.5 Sportsman, 13.5 Expert, and Modified classes. Tire warmers are permitted.

Stay tuned to www.reedyrace.com and the Facebook event page for more information and event updates.

The prevent the need for excessive ballast, and to keep the event on par (or ahead of) the rest of the racing community, the minimum weight for all classes has been reduced to 1320g.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the heads up on the total weight change. ( btw : the official website still says 1350 grams )
Is there a body weight restriction too ?

Thanks,
Jake

Thanks for the heads up on the website. I'll make the change.
No body weight rule. I don't feel we can enforce it as it should be. And I feel that a super light body will be a disadvantage on this high speed track. Plus the grip level is not high enough to make one an advantage.

Even though the entry deadline has passed, spots remain available and sign ups will remain open.

There are some different options for short layouts. But for the Reedy Race we will use the same layout as the CTS. This means the left side of the track is shortened in front of the driver stand and entering the back straight.

A message from Scotty Ernst:

Hello everyone,

As we draw closer to the Reedy Race of Champions, I wanted to send out this email with some basic event info and get pit space requests.

IMPORTANT!
Speed limits posted on Speedway property MUST be adhered to. Please do not jeopardize the future of the track and event by speeding.

Drones are not allowed on Speedway property.

Please pick up your trash at the end of each race day to ensure a pleasant experience for all racers.

PIT SPACE REQUEST:
I know many of you travel with friends and we want to do all we can to try and pit you with your friends. To facilitate that, I would like to ask you to please do the following.

Please list the names of the racers who would like to pit together. Most important is to make sure the names you list are not planning to pit with sponsors or teams. Please send this to [email protected] no later than Sunday night May 19th. I will do all we can to try and fill your requests.

You must use subject: REEDY RACE PIT SPACES

Items to bring to the event:
Remember that you will need to bring power strips for your pit spaces. Tables,Chairs and electricity will be provided, but you will need to reach from your table to the power outlet.

Nice things to have:
Sunscreen
Towelettes (no convenient running water)

Concessions:
The speedway provides a small concession stand that sells hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, ice cream, drinks, etc.

Parking:
Plenty of parking is available at Steel City Raceway. There is some parking inside the track area and plenty of parking outside the track area. Please be aware and respect the reserved parking space for our sponsors and media that is located inside the track area.

Tires sales:
Please do your best to bring cash for tires sales as I do not know if our mobile CC machine will work in this area.

Below is the schedule for the Reedy Race but know this is subject to change.
