Glad that we have got onto the 'size of track' arguments. Halifax is the largest track in the UK, it's designed for 1/8th nitro.

1/10th Mod Craig Drescher Associated TC3 17-312.00
1/10th Stock Oliver Jefferies Associated TC3 14-311.18
1/8th Nitro Gareth Bell Serpent(?) Veteq(?) 20-309

I'm afraid that the 1/10th nitro 'rubber' national was plagued with rain, and I can't find any times anyway. Pro 10 has not been run here for years, last year the CML Carpet Masters had a class for them and they got at most about 5 per meeting.

The best set up is when you hit the wall squarely with the side of the car?

i had a bad experience with a nitro car once...it was our normal practise and in an all-EP car practise, there was a last entry which was not supposed 2 join us bcos it was a nitro...
i had a habit of starting late 2 avoid the early crashes n play catching.well,it was supposed 2 b my day and everything felt good,i was 3rd(out of abt 9 cars) n still catching fast when the nitro understeer and crashed my car out.it manage 2 broke off my A-arms,probably due to it's heavy weight...heck...

EP r more environment-friendly also!!!

I guess we all didn't answer his questions completely. He asked how fast can a modified go and wats the best motor. Must have read through pages of words and not single answer.

OK here goes. I would assume you put it in the most efficient electric car which is a narrow pan car with a spoilerless gtp body.
A 10T modified would reach over 105kph or 60mph with six cells.

The fastest motor would be one of those brushless motor. Put that in the electric car and you'll be knocking on 1/8's back door.

IMHO the question should be how long does it take for the 1/10 pan cars to hit 60 compared to the 1/8th ?

Well i've been looking jealously at nitro cars for some time now.
I own a Pro3(moderately hopped up) but i dont have any serious racing stuff.just a plain esc , plain 1500 , stock motor , the likes.
Now i've been offered USD200 for a V1R.......
I only wanna do some relaxed club racing.
should i get the nitro or upgrade my Pro3 further?
[/i]

guess you made up you mind huh?

Pretty much.
Actually nitro's burn methanol and nitrous oxide , so the end products are only carbon dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.theoretically they are not poisonous.
pls dont forget that in order to charge our batteries , the utilities have to burn petrol/fossil fuel to generate electricity for us , so we actually harm the earth more.
that said...TO HELL WITH NITRO'S

Only if you ignore the Nickle, Cadmium, Lithium, etc. that we put back into things when we toss out (instead of recycle) our batteries, and then we use a lot of solder (lead) and we use a ton of electricity (20 minutes to charge, for 6 minutes of run time. . .). . . Nitro run the Nitro-Methanol with some nasty aspects to the fumes (there ARE some toxic contents in it. . .) but most of the oil content is a Bean content (Caster oil is a natural oil).

Both are pretty nasty, if you think about it. . .

They are pretty danged quick on getting up to speed. We've had our 1/10th pan cars up over 70mph (clocked) and our fastest were within .2-.3 of the fastest 1/8th. . .

Lee - weren't you thinking of buying a Nitro onroad?

Yep, especially since I presently have 1 Nitro onroad, 2 1/10th pan, 2 elec sedan, and 1 1/12th - and I love them all in different ways.
