Haven't been on much lately but I have been Racing my BD9 steady through out the summer and now coming into winter season. Want to hype the thread a bit with last weekends out of town race I attended.

The L shape track is a little unique but they did an awesome job with the lay out. Some risk for reward lines which made every round exciting. Needing to use all of the Rc force for a good result! From the first couple packs the car & I had some good pace. Finished where I started on the grid, my focus was to be fast and smooth and not to make a single mistake to stay on the 42 lap pace (Slightly smaller track would make for some traffic which was expected) Bringing home 3rd in the 17.5 A & 2nd in Mod using the same stock car. The two Racers I was up against have pure Raw talent, skill and dedication not to mention some of the fastest around. Was great to battle it out through quals / mains with them in 17.5 TC. I have been enjoying my BD9 week in and week out, it's been an awesome car to race very competitively with.

Default AOC Yatabe

Even though this mid-motor chassis trend is starting to pick up steam. The rear motor is still very competitive as seen at this year AOC Yatabe. Yokomo BD9 TQ and won the modified class with a lot of top level drivers in attendance. Iím pretty confident the other classes such as 13.5 boosted and 17.5 boosted were won by Yokomo BD9 chassis using a similar layout.

I agree Edward, I have a mid motor conversion still in a box lol.. My car has been great to me so that push hasn't been there to get it done. Hope to test it out soon though just to know the feeling difference of the equal belt length and weight shift. I see you are in Japan :O I am wanting to plan a trip from Toronto to Yatabe soon and bring all my gear with me.

Well, I have tested my mid motor car(Medius coversion) back to back with the rear motor car and it makes a difference. For me with the mid motor car I can drive the same pace as with the rear motor car but with more consistency. I also have noticed that the car feels the same at the beginning and end of a race (this is on CRC black carpet). My setups are not that different from one to the other...but I feel with more work I can get the mid motor car a lot faster. Will be testing the Rebellion conversion soon and think with the weight placement options I can get this car even easier to drive

Ah, Kingston RC Speedway. My old race track before moving to Japan. Those two racers ahead of you are pretty quick.

Just purchased a BD7 for VTA. Looking for information on upgrading it to newer specs if possible. Could anyone point me in the correct direction? And or recommend a parts upgrade?

Thanks

You might be able to use all the new plastics but the B9 is almost a complete redesign.

I was thinking about this further... You probably can't even use the steering knuckles because the BD9s have a different bearing configuration that would require a different driveshaft and I think the blades are thicker so the BD7 diff wouldn't work either... So maybe almost nothing is compatible.

Has anyone tried the zer-tribe or arrowmax mid motor conversion kits and if so how do you like them?

One of the top yokomo drivers in Brunei just had the conversion done and he dominated the last race... Granted I think he would have dominated with the rear layout car as well. He said the car was more balanced and had better turn in when I asked... With that said, I would like to ask if anyone here has any idea what sort of kit would the bd9 be released as in the near future? An RS kit?

Am asking as I wanna upgrade from my 2012 bd7 but I'm not sold on the midmotor cars.

Does anyone know which Axon yellow spring it was he used for the rear? The HLS or HS?
