For me personally it was between the Arrowmax kit and the zero tribe. The Arrowmax kit has the alum base plate option which is big value for me when buying the conversion kit. The Zero tribe carbon conversion plus a custom RSD base plate would of been well over $350 Canadian for me.

Took it off completely per Felix. I tried different motor mount flex settings also and ended up with all 4 motor mount screws and no rear brace (no cf or aluminum part)

I asked why I found myself better without it

Here is finally an answer from Arrowmax on the rear bulkhead shifting forward reason below in email.

Me:

Hi,

For the Yokomo BD9 Medius Mid Motor Conversion Kit AM-910003 w
Carbon Fiber or AM-910004 w Aluminum Chassis. I seen someone post pictures on RCTech of the finished conversion then compare their old chassis to show that the rear bulkhead mount holes have been moved up on the conversion kit? Is that correct? The shock tower and body posts now moved up forward and same with the camber links moved forward compared to the rear hub on the arm a few mm's. Looks like the arm mounts are all in the same place. Can you explain reason why you designed that?

Arrowmax:

Hi John,

Thanks for your enquiry as below.

From testing result by Arrowmax drivers, this is to improve steering and traction together with the mid motor conversion. it's a decision by the test team this was necessary for the improve performance.

Best Regards,
Yan

This is pretty consistent with what we do with our kit. More flex in this area makes the car rotate harder without losing rear bite.

Default Medius Build

I had to machine a screw down for the rear brace - I think newer kits come with a low profile screw for the motor mount bearing to solve this issue.

Also be sure to file the burr off of this screw so that it doesn't tweak the chassis.

The rear bulkhead does appear to be moved forward 1.5mm - so 1 tooth on a belt but I'll get over it if the car performs as claimed this Friday.

It is necessary to file a chamfer on the inside edge to prevent the pulley from touching the upper deck.

You can use stock battery post but I also noticed that the smaller centre pulley bearing fits a little loose. I'm using teflon tape on the bearing to reduce the play and vibration. I used a 95t pan car Axon Spur gear instead of my usual 100t TCS Axon spur due to the 2.0 ratio and no shims were required for this spur.

1.5mm of shims on the rear shock tower and my bodies dropped right on.

Almost done

I made a quick video of the tear down of a bd9 and most of the build of the mid motor setup. Electronics are not covered, as seen above, there are a few options depending on what you're using. I'll try to get a follow up describing the flex a bit recorded on Sunday and some of the other options this kit allows after I can test them.
