No, they're made up drivel to market to gullible racers who think those packs will miraculously give them more power.
Every manufacturer gives 'burst' C ratings which are usually double their main C ratings as written on the packs.

If a fully charged lipo swells overnight, it's a crap pack.

closer to 5 is probably realistic for a race, I was unsure if downtime had a significant effect. 2WD offroad. And I agree about the marketing. C rating should not be a deciding factor when buying batteries, capacity and weight are the most important.

You're probably pretty close. Even 1/12 Mod, where if you do the math you can average 45+ amps of draw, is less maybe 6C on a 8000mah 1s pack. It probably peaks around 100 amps, or 12C, in burst current.
