Motors under 10.5 are considered as modified.

Now in most modified classes around the world, people are using 5.5, 5.0 ans 4.5.

Get a 4.5t and don't look back. Yes, some run 5.0, or 5.5 but most people at most tracks run 4.5t and tune the boost/turbo to suit.

indoor on carpet depending on skill level a 10.5 with a good boost setup will be a great motor for a most of us .
a 4.5 is just too explosive to drive. only paul is able to make that work .

even a 13.5 with boost is plenty in most indoor tracks

2.5t boosted geared at about 10.0fdr or 4t brushed at 10.85fdr for indoor carpet...... Very fast, yet manageable...
The 4.5t boosted at 7.5fdr has too much bottom end torque, and would just keep spinning the tires: you want a lower gear with a less torquey motor, but with more power and acceleration....
Also the motor brand is very important: stay away from the el cheapo brands that will overheat your esc...

There are many 2.5t motors out there from reputable names like Fantom fr1 v2, trinity, tekin, etc... I run my trinity 2.5t with a novak pulse that I intend to fry, just as long as I pull everybody down the straight....lol....Lots of trigger control necessary in mod vs spec, so you'll only need to pull the trigger as far as needed....Good Luck...

Excuse my ignorance, but which ESC's support 2.5T?

Speedpassion mostly, but you can also use the no limit esc's with very conservative gearing and a really good battery... I've seen one other youtuber using an old gtb esc to run a 3turn motor in a buggy, although with no boost, and it was insane fast.... Most manufacturers put limits on the esc's for warranty reasons, but you can always push it for a while....
