Default TC3 gearing

I have 2 new pinions to go on my TC3, my question is how do you fit them? do I need to match the size of the spur pinion? The biggerpinion does not give enough room for the spur???? (sorry for the noobness)

Here are some things that may be wrong:
  1. Are you using the same pitched pinion as the spur? (48 pitch spur meshed to 48 pitch pinion)
  2. Just to get it out of the way, you are loosening up the motor mount right?
  3. usually with a 72 tooth spur, you can't really run any smaller than a 21 tooth pinion. (that is probably your problem)
  4. Put the grub screw in the pinion and tighten on the flat "key" on the motor shaft and you should be ready.
  5. set the mesh at first until you get used to it with a piece of typing paper to get the perfect mesh.
You may have to switch to a smaller spur to fit in a "larger pinion"

Hope this helps...

The biggest I can fit is a 33 pinion with a 69 spur.
If you have a 72 spur then a smaller pinion with less teeth will be needed.
Going from a 72 spur to a 69 spur is roughly the same as going up one tooth on the pinion.
What motor and track are you running?

running an orion v2 element and stock tc3 gearing seems a bit short. the 30 and 31 pinion which I was told to use do not fit, so look like I need to have a re-think. what spur pinion should I use (that will fit)for general car park racing and drifting?

I think 30 and 31 would be over-geared pretty bad wouldn't it? You should try the 22 if it fits or maybe buy a 23 or 24.

when i ran a V2 in me TC3 in carparks a 29 was the biggest i could fit ( with the 72 spur) if your just messin about in carparks then i think a 27 would be fine you would have enough top end and less chance off cooking it
