There is no asterisk at all to this title. He was two times runner up already and didn‘t get this title on plate just because Naoto and Marc weren‘t there. Besides beginning tomorrow nobody remembers how he got the title, he just has it
Burlap, Qatmix, silden and 1 others like this.

Agreed - between Akio, MR and Naoto (who could have been anywhere from 1st to 30th, he isn’t very consistent!) would have likely seen a change in the podium - and also probbaly the TQ as would have been a higher chance of someone else grabbing a round or two - but probably not the winner. It may have even meant a higher chance of TQ for Bruno if you think about it. When he is on, no one could beat him - for quali he “struggled” with changing track and changing tyres (alternating between old and used)

I remember that... Xray marketed it as "vice champion"... That's the most absurd thing EVER! Vice champion = he was the first loser!

He already beat them in the Pre-worlds so bad they no longer came back for more.

Same as Florida in 2014, and that was outdoor.

Clearly you didn't see the proper overtake in Final 1!

You could also say that if Coelho hadn't made a mistake in Beijing he'd have won in 2016, so 'Easy win' for Ronald.

Bruno had the faster car in the finals, perhaps Xrays tyre strategy was better. The yoke looked a bit loose on the rear

Bruno was very patient behind the slower Yokomo, and pressured Ronald enough to cause him to make mistakes... I know Ronald had a slower car(not 2.5t...lol...), but the whole field was catching him....

Bruno had them better car in the finals.
Ronald struggled during the first 3 laps after that he had the same laptimes as Bruno.

Why was there a number of top drivers not attending the worlds?

Meh... It's a term by losers who want it to make appear that they are winners...

I guess Masami got mugged at one point many, many years ago and most of the drivers and teams never came back since.
