XRAY X12 ‘19

Picture spotted on fb group. Surely one version to come w gear diff? Personally, I like the ball diff...easy immediate adjustment....don’t need 5 different assembled axles.

I did like the euro/us split last year...but would have paid a bit more to have both chassis in one box.

i would think they do two versions again with the gear, and ball diffs. all in one kit would be cost prohibitive

- aluminum chassis, gear diff kit

- graphite chassis, ball diff kit

last year i saw an xray sponsored racer with the 2018 F1, i saw the inverted front mounts for side links...i laughed, he asked why, i said its a shame that those weren't on the 2018 X12 ....guess they saved them for 2019 (i said this around Oct 2017)

- inverted front mounts for the side links which will result in..

- new narrower chassis designs for less drag

weak spot on xray X12 has been the front steering blocks, the way the oval axles are oriented, the break easily imo. after going thru 2 left and 3 right steering blocks in 2 months, from minor hits by me or just getting tapped by another driver, i switched to another brand, no need to mention

- improved front steering blocks

while the xray car is doing fine, there is a lot of hype concerning pivot design and layout, i think xray will react just as they did with gear diffs

- improved pod pivot design

i also suspect they may do something to the step up front graphite piece near the same fashion as their former xray driver EAM used/sold

- improved step up front graphite piece

i would hope, after many years of QQ concerning front end pivot ball slop are finally addressed

- improved front design for less play more accuracy

If they fix the slop in the front end I would be so happy - it drives me crazy. I still have an old 10R5 in my basement - front end has almost no slop at all and is super smooth. I really like my X12'17 but I also really hate it.

This is interesting feedback to me.

The X12'18 was the first Xray 1/12 that I felt comfortable using only Xray front end parts. I upgraded all composite parts to Graphite composite where I could, and went through the whole season with no issues. No slop, no broken pieces, and I feel the front end is still good. I did not run the car every week, but my local track is tight and technical which sometimes leads to some impressive blowouts. If you are using the kit composites, I could see that developing slop.

The only part that I did use that was non-Xray was the football pivot at the pod. I started with the Xray pivot and it was good, but it did develop slop.

Same SLOP and the gear diff is not included. Racers have handfulls of ball diffs already - why would we buy another? DUMB!

What's sloppy about the front end on these cars? I'm not familiar with these, I'm looking at a CRC but was also considering the Xray.

Is any geometry changed? Seems like the “major” new thing is the battery holdin’ stuff. Hmm, don’t know if I will go for it if it’s basically the same as my ‘18. I’ve custom made foam bumpers and my good friend printed me some bumper holders in various plastics. ...don’t even want to put any version of carbon fiber there...need a forgiving crash point in my opinion.

Would still need to add r6 axles, r6 upper eyelets, and Roche upper kingpin balls for the front end slop.

Well, will wait and see opinions when it is available.

Optimized for all conditions... So optimized for no condition in particular?
