Default tamiya f104w rc differential problem

hello i'm new to the forum, I have a Tamiya f104w formula car, I ordered a f104 aluminium differential hop up, once assembled, it is shorter than the original differential shank , so the wheel doesn't have the thread showing to put the end screw on. can any one advise what I need additional to use this diff. thanks.

download the manual for the f104w gp . it uses the alum diff and you can see what you are missing and the part #s.
off the top of my head you need the whole axle and the end piece with the pin and poss more. good luck.

Sounds like you're missing the diff cap. The F104w came with the old F103 diff, which used the wheel nut as the diff adjustment nut. The F104 diff encloses the diff nut inside the right up and the wheel nut attaches to a cap that seals off the diff.

thanks for the advise, I have the diff cap as shown in the diagram, but the measurement from the spur gear to the screw on the diff cap is shorter than the original diff shaft by about 10mm, so when I put the wheel on , the screw part on the diff cap doesn't come out of the wheel.

may be i'm not pushing the wheel on properly, i'll give it another try. are the rear wheels the same size for the f104w and f104w gp edition ?

Sounds like you still have the thrust bearing assembly inside the wheel. You diont need that anymore, the thrust bearing is now inside the diff assembly.

Viking 44, thanks for your reply, yes I forgot to remove the spacer in the wheel when doing original set up as standard, wheel bolting on ok now.
