ROAR minimum weight?

Ive read here and there that the min weight for TC now either is or soon will be 1320. It’s 1350 now right? Or is it. When you go to ROAR’s website and look at the newest rule book with changes, it still shows 1380. I mean we’ve been at 1350 for a couple years now, but the book doesn’t reflect this?

For the casual club racers and not the guys who go on the ROAR US tour of major races year round, how are we supposed to know the accurate rules? Word of mouth, even from ROAR officials, or explanations and updates on random RC forums seems like A way for people to easily claim ignorance when they get teched at a race.

Thread here says 1350.

I think europe and ETS series have moved to 1320g. A little while back, they were running 1350g.

Even at 1350g, I have to add a ton of weight on my Xray T4.

1320grams will probably be adopted everywhere, but at some point, with the newer more powerful motors, traction will become an issue with cars getting way too light for the available power. So many mod/pro stock tc's already spinning tires at 1350 grams....

A lighter car may be the wave of the future but I'm not convinced that its a big deal, as a small reduction in weight will hardly be noticed. 1380, 1350, 1320, these weight differences are small, less than 5%. Could you tell the difference if you strapped 60g of weight into your car? Probably, but its hardly revolutionary.

If a racing org wanted to see something really cool, remove the weight requirement entirely. I'm not arguing that it would be a good idea for an enduring race series but it could be cool.

They can get it down all the way to 1230grams and my tc4.2 will still make minimum weight with a TP2700 mah 2S lipo pack.....

You’re likely to IFMAR drop to 1320g for the worlds.

Once that happens - everywhere else will follow suit.

That small 2700mah lipo ran very well in 17.5t blinky at club level six minute mains when my car was still over 1380grams...

As I mentioned in the original post, I cannot find where officially ROAR is at 1350. The book still shows 1380, and a PROPOSED rules change to 1350. Nothing official.

So what is the official weight?

NutDriver 07-01-2018 12:38 PM

I'm digging through the most recent version of the rule book that I can find, seeking an answer to your question. While I have not found the answer to your question as of yet, I did find this:

3.1.11 Drivers are not allowed to stand on any device on the drivers stand that brings there (sic) waist level above the railing height. Should a shorter driver need to be elevated to see over the railing a step stool may be used however at no time should there waist be above the railing. Drivers may not use milk crates,5 gallon buckets or the like. Race Director has the final say as safety comes first. Failure to abide by this will result in a 1 lap penalty or DQ

and this one, also:

5.5.2 Turn marshals are not permitted to repair vehicles. Marshals will take disabled vehicles to the closest outer edge of the racetrack as soon as possible.

And this one:

5.5.3 A vehicle running on the track has the right-of-way over a vehicle that has gone off the track, turned over, or otherwise had problems.

and in the paragraph above that it says that they are changing it, not that its proposed.
Just wish they would go in and update the rule book

EAMotorsports 07-01-2018 06:41 PM

The official Weight IS 1350G. Has been for the past 3 nationals. Im on the excom so I am pretty sure I know what it is. Getting them to finish the rule book update is another story.

EA,
With all due respect, it seems that you have knowledge that the rest of us don't. Is there a place where the rest of the ROAR membership can find this information?
