Smile Diff

Evenin,
I had my first race day with my new car after swapping from xray.

I had a problem of the diffs coming loose whilst racing and when you go to tighten them when checking how tight they are they bind up.

I run alloy diff outdrives so my question is how do you build the perfect Scythe Diff.

A dummies guide to how to do this will be great or if there is any top tips

Cheers
James

Obviously you should have built up the alloy diff with the different 2mm screw and thrust parts, the kit plastic diff hardware using Yokomo 2.6mm parts will not work.

Apart from that I had no problems with the alloy diff loosening, all I would do is swap the TOP thrust for the one-piece Tamiya (or similar eg JAAD ceramic) 620 thrust.

For me, the alloy diff builds up into a much smoother mechanism than the plastic parts.

If is persistently loosens you may need to replace the diff nut.

ok so it should go. screw spring thrust bearing then nut the otherside? and the screw goes in the long diff arm.

Not for the Alloy diff it shouldn't.

I just built one myself and it is butter smooth ( I did use the Tamiya screw, nut and thrust bearing though).
From the instructions, the order should be screw, short diff half, long diff half, thrust bearing, spring, nut and carrier.

First off want to say thanks to EJ Evans for bringing me on the 2008 TOP team. I ran the 08 scythe for the first time in rubber tire carpet at Snow Birds warm up this last weekend. After a little set up tuning car was really dailed managed to come in 5th place in the a main. Can't wait to get so more time on it at Snow Birds.
