What kind of lap time differences between 17.5T and Stock 1/12?

I personally would rather run Super Stock but 1/12 is struggling to get new blood so I'm thinking Stock would be better...

Slower top end than a hot 21.5T but with massive torque.

I tend to prefer faster classes, but I ran CanAm Stock TC at NYGP and thought it was great.

I'm going to run TC 17.5, USGT 21.5, VTA 25.5 at the CanNat's for sure plus 1-3 more classes which is a toss up between 12th 13.5, F1 25.5 and maybe the Can-Am Stock TC. I run a lot of slower classes so it's tough to pick the Can-Am Stock TC. LOL, I guess it'll depend on how much money I spend on spec motors this season.

Our biggest Can-Am basher from day one asked about doing Can-Am for USGT. Guess he likes the idea of slower but closer racing and not having to buy another $125+ motor that mmmmmight pass tech at a larger event.

At the risk of stirring the pot here, I'm having some second thoughts on the can am thing. I was all for it, and still am for the most part, but now I'm starting to see some tracks that are going to this type of format, but not using the motors that are specified by the can am website. I know that my local track is waiting to after the Indoor Champs in Cleveland to start this rule set as many of us will already have the motors. But say I wanted to go to another track for a big race, now I'm stuck having to rent or even worse yet purchase a motor that I'll use for a weekend, then it becomes a paperweight. Does everyone here understand the dilemma I'm trying to describe here?

Please don't take this as starting an argument or bashing this in anyway. I think the can am rule set is a great thing, but my worry is that some tracks won't follow it and now another issue has been created and will fuel the fire for the haters & non believers.

Well; thats an easy fix. Don't attend that race that makes you buy a motor that is a paper weight to you after said race; or race another class that isn't in confines of a spec'd motor.
