That would be awesome to see a mod resurgence. Then I wouldnít have to troll the forums or listen to Anthony rant about itís the car itís the car not the motor, yet ironically, heís the biggest stock 17.5 trophy chaser of them all.

I hope the spec motors are smartly matched to the track as well.

As someone on the edge of getting more involved in racing. I think the majority are just waiting to see what happens. With summer arriving the outdoor racing is starting up this weekend at 3 places. Taking the focus away from the indoor track in the area.

I see that Windy City RC has signed on to the Can Am series , Will that NOT apply to VTA ?
VTA is the biggest class there and no matter what anyone says some of racers there get motors from manufacurerers or get the Pick of the Litter . If you Do it for all the other classes it should also be done for VTA. ( i dont do Facebook,Thats why I comment here)

That is probably true, however......
  1. The racing should be closer
  2. Guys won't have to spend money every few months to get the latest/greatest motor
  3. People will feel that there is more of a level playing field which should help entry counts
I'm all for this and excited to see how it progresses.

LoneDrifter-- there appears to be a lot of anti-handout feeling by many vocal vta racers. I haven't raced vta in 3-4 years and when I did it was only 2-3 times.. but I agree with your basic feeling about the benefits of handouts.

I assume this would be a better statement / discussion on the usvta thread.

I'm confident we have enough vendor support now to put something together.

We ran hand out motors at the Southern Nats for pro vta Cody Armes won Southern Nats with a Team Scream Then we went to the pro and the only thing I done was change the motor it was so slow we finished last out of 12 cars and started on the pole so don't talk to me about about hand out motors

Just curious if VTA was fast before the handout motor?

Those motors used at southern nats invite class were a joke ... They were garbage and I'm checked .. Along with the open fdr ability just wasnt a good for anyone ...

Iím pretty sure Rondey Combs won the VTA and F1 class at last years Southern Nats. And if the handout was good enough to put you on the pole, what was the problem in the main?

I ran that yr. me and Cory parsons ran 1st /2nd with the old Novak ss motors . we had ours geared to the moon .
But that race was not a accurate account of how the can-am is planning to handle the classes ...
If that was how it was goong to be I wouldnt be supporting it .
Ive ran in 3 handout events (me and/or my son ) and all 3 were horrable cause of the selected motor being used along with a open gearing it just really shined a light on the differences between motors.
Pro USVTA 2016 southern nationals (Novak 25.5ss)
USGT iroc 2017 southern nationals (HW 21.5 locked )
Snowbirds 2015 amateur (orca 17.5)
But each yr iic has USGT class with matched motors and gearing and it seems to be the closest racing yet .
Along with this past yr including stock tc (tho it had open gearing with locked timing motors ) it was much better than past events in terms of quality control ... Now that can am is coming into affect I see motors getting even better chosen for each event and having a tested gearing established for each track/class as well .
Cant wait for this to take over
