Touring Car ROAR event minimum weight

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks the minimum weight is for touring cars at ROAR events? 1350 or 1380?

Mr. McGoo 04-22-2018 03:18 PM

1350 for TC and 1380 for USGT

miller tyme 04-22-2018 03:21 PM

Yeah, what he said

tbrymer 04-22-2018 04:42 PM

Anyone affiliated with roar care to chime in? Everyone I know thought it was 1350, but someone sent an email to roar, and got the answer of
1380.

gigaplex 04-22-2018 04:57 PM

If only ROAR had a website with the rules published on it...

cplus 04-22-2018 05:05 PM

1350

as well as reading the rule book you have to be on top of all the announcements as well.....

ROAR Racing

cplus 04-22-2018 05:08 PM

History behind this;

ETS dropped to 1350 for 2015
AARCMCC (australia) dropped to 1350 as did BRCA
was then proposed to IFMAR Prior to 2016 worlds to drop to 1350 (and they did)
EFRA followed IFMAR
ROAR followed after the worlds.

and now ETS has changed to 1320g for this season, so reasonable chance of IFMAR changing before the worlds also - which will drive another change.

Are there any advantages, for the racers, to lowering car weight again? Other than awesomatix are there any cars that are signifcantly under weight when not using LCG batteries, ultra light weight bodies and titanium / aluminum hardware? It’s diminishing returns at this point and starts to get very expensive.

I can see no advantages, only disadvantages-- the main one being expense, just as you stated. Every time the weight drops, the wallets open. That's never good.

Every TC I've built in last couple years was way under the current ROAR min (Except the TA07 LOL). A lower weight limit would have saved me money. No need to buy fancy brass centre wieghts and inner suspension holders etc.

I have to agree, adding weight to my touring cars has become an annoying obsession lately, even with an 8400mah battery and a boat anchor speedo i had to put 10g on my T4'18 to make 1350

malkiy 04-23-2018 01:59 PM

Hmmm my t4 2018 was slightly over weight with HW XR10 pro,LCG battery 264g, hiro seiko screw kit, light weight body and solid alu chassis.

Joe Maxey 04-23-2018 02:11 PM

Tc7.1 hobby wing justock esc/motor combo, 6k Reedy lipo, Tamiya Gt body, Ko low pro servo, Solaris wheels and I added 60g to make weight.

I say lower it.

Really? I do have alum screws in the car, protek low profile servo, and my motiv mc2 is a pretty light motor, but even with the 320g battery I had to add 10g
trying to think if i have anything else on the car to lighten it, standard flex alum chassis, it does have lightened hinge pins, but that's like .8g each, hardly anything.....

theproffesor 04-23-2018 04:18 PM

The Solaris tires on Schumacher lightweight wheels weigh 40g less than any other wheel/tire combo out there. That’s a huge advantage/disadvantag depending on perspective. Yes it’s 40g less rotating mass, but now you have to find space for it on you chassis

DavidNERODease 04-23-2018 04:28 PM

I double checked my Destiny RX10SR with solid aluminum chassis and std weight body... race ready it still needed 50g to reach min. I am using Sorex on Schumacher rims.

DavidNERODease 04-23-2018 04:34 PM

Sorry make that 65g... TSR 17.5 motor, Tekin RS Pro Black, Motiv DefyG6000, R1 fan, Futaba S9551, Xray Saver, Xray hard bumper, bumper brace, stock steel screws.

Dan 04-23-2018 04:39 PM

I had to add a ton of weight on my Awesomatix A700 and Xray T4 18 with aluminum flex chassis.

ShaunMac 04-23-2018 05:15 PM

About 50g added to my old HB chassis to make 1350

malkiy 04-23-2018 05:52 PM

I’m guessing the difference is in the premount tires. The gravity wheel combo is one of the heaviest out there.

JayL 04-24-2018 04:13 PM

or heavy body with lots of paint

ROAR Racing

ROAR needs to stop being lazy and update the rule book. The site only will give you the 2013 version and then you have to hunt for rule changes randomly posted. Its long over due being it has been 5 years since the last full write. I've emailed them about it before sent a Facebook message its like the only response you get is that nice plastic card in the mail after you send the $35 on signup.

SLOW 77 09-12-2018 12:01 PM

Any rumors of 1320g from ROAR in the future?

bertrandsv87 09-12-2018 01:45 PM

Still 1350g on the Roar site....Maybe they'll do 1320g next year....

EAMotorsports 09-13-2018 08:33 AM

Weight is staying at 1350g

EA

DaSilva3525 09-13-2018 09:36 AM

I wouldn't mind it at 1320. I don't mind it at 1350 either but buying those dam brass weights get's old for all your competitive cars. Motors are lighter 142-150 grams average vs older 160gram motors, bodies are lighter, by 8-12 grams, Chassis kit's are lighter by a bunch etc etc...

fat500 02-24-2024 07:02 AM

Can someone please post an update to this thread for us morons that don't know what we're doing I did a quick Google search and find 1380 1350 and 1320 I go to roar site and it's a pain in the ass I swear they just deserve to die and go away I emailed the administrator saying how hard would it be to make one page with the rules like VTA does that you can just click on and there it is . This is just stupid ridiculous thanks for reading my rant

malkiy 02-24-2024 07:49 AM

it isn’t hard to find at all. Click rules, then click rule book, find the class you run then click the page in the table of contents. I found it in 5 seconds even though I didn’t know the exact location on the site.

Er, the two leading smartphone brands are iPhone and Android. Both support PDF natively and both are American designed.

As for the M3, that's German.

Small correction: Android is not really a smartphone brand but an OS for smartphones (developed by Google, and used by most manufacturers other than Apple) - as iOS is for iPhones. But I agree: reading/viewing PDFs should be possible with pretty much any device as a basic function. Being able to edit these files, however, is usually not free.

Android is also a Trademark and is itself a brand, even if it is just the OS.
