Tell them that its an easy process. Just ask HarryN. It will take them less than 5 minutes to become a dealer. Let me know if you need help.

Agreed. The Track, the place I go to for my hobby needs and racing, only spent 5 minutes (literally) and my car and parts were ordered. Then they were on the way.

James made the process very simple and easy. I would highly recommend you try and talk Hobbytown to talk to James at SK Motion (distributor for Robitronic).

Now, if only James would let me know what the status is on the new version of the AVID (the carpet car). That car looks really interesanting.

Thanks HarryN for the support.

To be honest with you, none of us here knows when the car will be released. Unfortunately we are not involved in the development or manufacturing of the car. At soonest a few months, at latest never. I will let you know as soon as we know.

Hey guys I need alittle help. I'm thinking about buying a used avid, seems to be in great condition.

I would like to say that these cars are beautiful but how do they handle?
What about parts support?
where can I get parts?
How do they compare to an xray say the older FK05's

Any help and advice will be appreciated, Thanks

These cars handle great and are fairly easy to set up. Thay are a little more time consuming to work on though , for most things most of the car needs to be dissasembled, other than that great car , and speedtechrc has alot of parts in stock.
hope that helps.

I get all my parts at SpeedtechRC. Jeff stocks most of the parts, & if he does not have the parts he can just call James at SK Motion & order it. He's a stones throw from SK Motion. James has been a big help. Part support is not a problem. Car works great for me on Carpet or Asphalt. Just a simple change of the roll center blocks & you can fine tune the car to your liking. Yes it takes a little more time to get the diffs, or spur out, but how often do you strip spurs. I'm so used to taking the diffs out of the car & it only takes me a few minustes. The new car should be even better as far as ease of maintenance. Got to the A-main in the ROAR Regionals & KO Race. Now just gotta do well for the Reedy Race.

dimerip, you can also have your local or favorite hobby store order from us direct. Maybe George's Hobby House? After we took over distribution in the US, parts availability and support is a lot better. We have zero complaints so far. You will be very happy with the Avid.

DJGonzo, thanks for the recommendation and good words.

This support is already awsome!! I know the owner of George's. I'm sure he will not have an issue with becoming a dealer...... We also just bought a Robitronics scoring system. We're going to try it out this weekend We need 10 extra transponders though. Tower has a limited number in stock and I think great plains or horizon is sold out which is were Roger (owner guy) orders from.

I bought an Avid last night I cant wait to get it looks to be an awsome car. I might keep my eyes open for another one.

I paid $110.00 shipped for it.....

The biggest complaint I have about the kit thus far is the rear diff assembly. You have to GLUE THE RING onto the gear. That does not give me the warm and fuzzy namely because if something happens and that ring gives way, it could cost more than a ring for the rear diff.

The way the rear belt and front belt are so close to eachother is not giving me the warm and fuzzy. The picture that Gonzo posted is not what is shown on my car. The belts are extremely close to eachother. Hopefully it changes after running the car, but right now, I am not feeling it.

I will complete the car tomorrow. I spent most of my time straightening parts out, pre-fitting them in (especially on instruction 10), like as if I was building a Serpent VETEQ all over again. I would have completed the assembly of the car by now, but I am not liking pre-fitting everything. 4 hours is quite long for me.

All right HarryN,
Here my comment for each paragraph:

The body post material is a bit dry and will unfortunately break on severe crash. But the next evolution (Avid 2009) will have a material change for a more flexible one...

Yes, the diff ring must be glued. But if you take the time to prepare the two surfaces before glueing (pulley + ring using a hobby knife to slightly scratch and remove the dismolding agent from the surface + brake cleaner to degrease totally) , you will not meet any trouble. I ran the Avid for more than 1 year and I never met any problem. Put some ceramic balls in and you will have one of the best diff ever.

As you may noticed, the spool is not exactly symetric left/right. That means you have get it in the bulkhead with the proper side. Otherwise, the two belt may touch each other.

4h hours to build a RC model is not that long. Don't forget that R/C model is also a hobby and means "spending time" by definition.

Keep it up.
