Comparing the Ghost18 to this. Ouch!

"Racing Builds" is never a good idea. I build faster than my driving buddy, but he makes fewer mistakes. And yet, I still track how long it takes me.
.... While my XQ1s is still in the mail. I built the Sakura XI in 6 hours. While on the phone for two of those hours. The VBC Ghost took 5 hours, including some parts problems. If you wanna knock some "free" time off your builds, I highly recommend picking up a m3 thread forming tap, and maybe an M4 tap too. The thread forming is important. Do not get a normal tap for M3 threads.
That reminds me, I need to bug Bartolo Racing.

Did chapstick on the turnbuckles when I built them and no issues with them popping off when adjusting.
Very excited to see how this does Sunday!

I am fairly sure the Ghost18 is not the worst kit I've assembled. The quality of the parts, are great. Assuming I can get all of the parts, and a replacement DCJ... The ~kit~ is... somewhat embarrassing. If that makes any sense. I'm waiting to do my full review until I've got all the cars I've ordered.
.... Yes, I have something big cooking.
I'm not entirely excited about building faster. I "enjoy the act of building". I did buy an electric screwdriver and an adapter to let me put 4mm bits in it's 1/4" chuck.
I need to do something about my turnbuckle technique. Lube might be the way to go. "as it stands" I can typically assemble them by hand alone. In theory I have a tool that's supposed to hold them, but getting a wrench on the plastic isn't easy.

Yes, the "act of building" is certainly enjoyable and doing it right is particularly satisfying.

XQ1S wins again...
Cant put a link to my blog here, but should be one at the bottom of my post.if not search for RCradds on wordpress
also, we have Steve, the bossman for Xpress Team UK racing the BRCA nationals this weekend at Halifax. Interesting to note that the XQ1S was only 1s slower on the track, than the XQ1 on a dry track. Not bad eh!
