It's insane what you get with you money on this chassis! Might only have a glass chassis but that's easy/cheaply fixed.
Steering rack is interesting too, is anyone doing a straight version as an option part, or different curves maybe?
You could use the 2 lever type steering from any of the previous D series cars that used that system. (I personally would use the D08 just because the steering posts allow you to put a wrench on them for tightening) The chassis has holes in it to enable this system.
VBC has just released a aluminum chassis for the Ghost18, which will be ideal for carpet and high traction racing.

JC3, your concerns have been sent to VBC HK HQ.

Oh, and your wrong about the pinion gear, you can run it either way, and the way shown avoids the issue of certain motors rotor flat spots not close enough to the can so you can't get onto the proper part of the flat. I have run my pinions as shown for probably 20+ years. Also you should avoid loctite on the pinion set screw, only tighten the setscrew as much as the wrench lets you. Doing this will save you headaches later on.

I was under the impression both the D09 and D10 (having oval shaped pegs)
require modification to work with the Ghost chassis hole pattern (which accepts a smaller round shaped peg).

Given that, I'd much rather prefer to install a non-modified component and be able to use the stock plastic inserts.
I'll patiently wait for the upgrades..
Thanks for the suggestions

Ok so my car is almost built and going to be ready soon for the local carpet track. How are you guys holding the battery down on the car? I was thinking a velco strap but not sure how that would work.

I also see you guys mentioning this assembly of this kit. I can say for my first on-road car that the instructions are a pain in the butt. Parts aren't in the proper bag and I had to dig through the other bags to find the part the instructions listed. I am missing the 2 M3x12 screws for the front tower where the 3 spacers are supposed to go on page 10 (i think that's the page). It has taken me about 3 days to get as far as I am now which is at the shock building point. I have built off-road kits plenty of time and been in the RC game for 24yrs and haven't had a kit yet be this much of a pain. I was going to let my kids build it but I wanted to make sure it was all good. I am thinking of getting another car but not sure if I will do another one of these because of how bad the instructions are.

Does anyone else feel that this slider steering rack has a ton of slop? Almost like the bearings need to be 1mm larger

I've not experienced any slop in the steering rack. I applied a bit of pressure when assembling the rack when tightening up the lock nut and it seems very smooth and slop free.

As it is my wet car I tend to drop a small bit of grease on the bearings purely to protect from water.

Parts support is excellent from MB Models in the UK and if you order over $40 of parts direct from the VBC website postage is free and they arrive in less than a week from Hong Kong.

No more than on my Xray T4 '17. I'll double check tonight.

I have been running the car since late March. I took the rack out once to check the clamping bearing tightness and found that it was fine. I haven't had it out since. There is some minor up and down play but not enough to affect a thing.

I just double checked and there is practically no play back and forth and the smallest amount up and down. None of which affects the handling.
