Hi everyone, I’m was in this hobby a few years ago and I now have this bare Tamiya 1/10 plastic chassis with no batt, servo, ESC and motor. I have forgotten almost everything about this hobby and I would be very thankful if u guys can recommend different models of the respective parts that I’m missing. Looking to play on-road

What’s your plan. Racing or parking lot running? If just looking to go mess around Associated, Vaterra, Traxxas and Hpi have RTR vehicles. I’ve owned most of them.
Are you looking to build? More wide open there. XRay, Serpent, Associated to name a few.

I’m not looking for racing just the casual one, I’m looking to build it myself with my own parts as I alr have the chassis

The tamiyas especially the older ones are not known for handling alot of power. If using nimh a brushed system should be ok. If going lipo a very mild brushless system could be alright (low kv or high turn brushless motor).

If you do not mind brushed these are not bad they have worked fine for me.

Cheap combo have not tried it but does not look too bad (if anything the esc should be a keeper). Slower than the reedy radon.

These were just budget options.

I am also a casual driver as you say I do not go racing at the race tracks.

There are better options out there and more expensive ones too. For every brand or model you will have people rant or rave about them.

First, of all starting with just a chassis ( or do you mean complete chassis) and buying parts
Separately will cost way more then buying a kit

Second ,if you want to do organized racing go to the track , see what classes they run and build a car to what you want to run

Third, Classes are usually built using lipo batteries , sensored brushless motors . Like 25.5 for VTA, 21.5 for GT 17.5 for TC.

Fourth, If you dont have a radio dont automatically buy a single model radio because if you like RC racing ,all you have to buy is reciever to add a second model . Only buy a 2.4ghz radio because at many tracks 27 and 75 mhz radios are not allowed .

Ah, missed that you had a chassis already. I’ve got only got limited experience with Tamiya. A tt01 long ago. Didn’t really get the appeal it has to some.
If chassis is complete then sounds like you’d just need the electronics. Motor, esc, servo and receiver. Choices are wide open.
You might consider looking into used. You can find some great deals on complete vehicles, unusually missed controller. Touring car guys seem to change vehicles years. The new model comes out, old gets sold. I’ve bought a number over past few years with no problems.

Check out Hobby King. You can build that car on the cheap and make it a land rocket
