For Foam tires on slot car racing we used sticky lint brushes to get the dust of the tires

Wait. I think you guys need to specify rubber vs foam. Does tire scraper work in foam? same with other compounds?

For Rubber tires I use either Mineral Spirits or Goop/Gojo hand cleaner. Both work well. I like the hand cleaner since I know its safe for skin contact. The mineral spirits work very well too and I daub it on then wipe it off with a towel. The mineral spirits open up the pores of the tire (for lack of a better description) and softens the rubber. I tried the mineral spirits on foam and it really softens the foam. I dont think I like it though so I use the hand cleaner for foam.
