Interesting, looks very much almost like a bootleg M07 chassis. Very similar front end and rear end, but not nessesarly a tub chassis

Some parts look near identical (steering rack, knuckles) but the gearbox is very different. There's an extra counter gear.

Hmm, that may be something that dooms this car. The M07 already has some power loss/extra heat friction with all its gears, I can only imagine the problem would be worse with this cars extra gear

That extra gear seems to push the motor back, which pushes the battery back; I don't think that's going to work out well with FWD?

I do not get why brands does not throw the servo or at least the esc in the front.. TC cars gets a front mounted motor after all. If there is no space for it in a mini you use something else at least.

Yea, but you do need a little bit of weight in the rear, otherwise it might not drive well, understeer in particular

Yes, of course some weight is needed because it's a four-wheeled vehicle. But my beloved old M03, which has very little weight on the rear wheels, can get similar lap times to my M07.

The extra gear is probably to reverse the rotation of the motor, similar to what some 2wd buggies can do. It changes the handling characteristics on and off power.

That's an interesting point, but exactly what and how would that change? The buggies I'm familiar with all use 3-gear.
Check out wtcc's FF project...fascinating...he changed to a 2-gear.

The only m chassis car which has tried to ‘do it differently’ is the MTS FF Conversion which puts the motor up front.
It sorta works but there are only 1 or 2 bodies that will fit because of packaging issues - no room!

When the motor is positioned in front of the axle line, don't all sorts of bad weight shift things happen? Vehicle weight/mass should be between the axles, as close to centerline as possible...exact front to back bias depends on which wheels are driving, no?

Well, virtually every competition level FWD 1/10th Touring Car does it like this, motor in front. It's almost impossible to do it any other way as the diff takes up the space in between!
We haven't tried this particular car yet, perhaps we'll run as a comparo between it, the M07 and the new 3 Racing car, three variations on a theme.

Can't wait!
