i looked up a few of the web sites for some motors:

fantom, links to mail order sites
brood, sells direct
orion, sells direct outside of north america
putnam, links to mail order sites (including trinity ironically)
ea, sells direct
checkpoint, not selling direct
reedy, online links to database (including mail order)

why am i not hearing equal bashing against these entities who are competing or promoting competition against local shops? i would be interested to know how many that sell direct, or list competing shops, have a local site ship the merchandise and get the revenue.

the model trinity is using works and when correctly applied makes dealers more money (contrary to the above posts which i am still trying to understand). amazon, true value, sears, lowe's and the list goes on.... they all do the exact same thing for a number of reasons. it allows the individual sites to have a web presence and essentially free advertising without the associated costs of maintaining a web site.

i applaud trinity for giving these shops a new revenue opportunity to compete with the direct sellers and other mail order sites that our shops would otherwise make ZERO from.

Thanks gee-dub! We fell Shopatron unlike traditional "mail order" does give the hobby shops an avenue to make "more money" if they are aggressive and work the system. I know of a lot of hobby shops who make a lot of their revenue by getting these orders "first".....by searching the sites etc. I think its a good system. Perfect? Nothing is perfect but in an internet age like this...Shopatron does not exclude hobby shops...but includes them and allows them "first right of refusal" for each and every order.

Remember this, if the Shopatron order is passed on to a "local" hobby shop in your state, you will be charged sales tax.
