At our places the fasted car is the YRF 10. Bone stock parts. No X-ray Asso or anything other turns so well as it. It is just a matter of correct setup, I guess.

The Exotek car I received is AWSOME!! I'm hoping to get it out on the track next week. The front independent system is very smooth with shocks and springs for tuning!! This baby should be able to track anywhere with authority. I've got some setup sheets to start with--then tune from there.

Picked up a new Hitec Lynx radio and receivers to change over to from my ancient Futaba 3PK's. MAN--radio equipment continues to evolve!! The new receivers are smaller and lighter--and the transmitter has very easy way to get through the functions. Even an "old fart" like me can figure it out!! OF course, the Hitec boys helped me change it over to "left" hand drive--as I maintain that's they way ALL RC cars should be driven!! After all, when I raced slot cars the throttle was in my right hand--and REAL cars you steer with the left hand--shift with the right!! Seems the natural way!!

For those looking to get into a new F1, consider the VBC FX18. It's an awesome car which was just released (TQ last Saturday on first club race). I've been running the VBC F1s since the lightning and these cars are extremely well built, durable and the pricing is just awesome. Gripworksrc.com has them for around $260 USD. Parts availability is also quite good.

I got my Fx18 for $200/ free shipping from ebay (Beamcat). Arrived within 5 days from HK! They may have more, they list em at $229/or best offer...so I offered 200 and they bit. Great build but I'm not finding ANY info on it on the web, may be too new I dunno. Anyone have any setups they'd care to share?

Check out the RCTech thread for the Lightning FX:

VBC Lightning FX

Alex Pate from Gripworksrc.com posted a setup in there that I use for black/high grip carpet and works great for this car as well. There are some excellent tips in there as well from Edward Pickering.

I'm building my FX18 now and I've got to say I'm impressed with the quality of the kit. Parts are packaged for easy assembly, and the fit is really good so far. I'll hopefully get some time on this car this Saturday.

I uploaded some pics of the new build. Handles great out in my street!!

If you guys need any help with the new car, hit up Edward2003 or AlexPate here on RCTECH, their knowledge is supreme!! Edward2003 has a youtube channel as well with a boatload of great videos for setup and build. Search 'Edward Pickering'.

I bartered for a 17 Xray. I added a Fenix gear diff and got some help putting a setup on it. I ran it at the Snowbirds this year. I had no experience with the car so got a lot of help from Drew Ellis and Brian Wynn. The car was amazing and super easy to drive. Unfortunately it wasn't until the last qualifier before the mains but my car was easily a mid pack B main car. I ended up winning the C main easily.

I'm a fan of Xray. A few guys run the AE and seem to like it.
