I'm guessing it will be a lot better this year if they spray it. Probably no reason not to spray it since it will be torn down soon.
tandman and Jack Kloeber like this.

I sure hope so. Although watching the invite racing is always great, last year it wasn’t as intense and as close / wheel to wheel racing due to the lower traction level, imho.

Last year there was no spraying of the track so i'm guessing the same this year. The track was pretty hooked up even without spray.

The sealer is a year older now, so its bound to have less traction this year.

Do you know if it will be possible to buy tire additive, motorspray etc. on-site?

Rick-

Any plans for Spec Sauce for Open/17.5 classes?

Any Plans to prep the surface before each race/practice day?

Any plans to check motors? From what I saw go on at Nationals I think this will be even more important than previous Reedy Race Events.

Thoughts?

I'll let Rick chime in on the tire sauce, but from the grape vine is no track prep for the entire event. It will be thoroughly cleaned but no spray. As Tbyrmer already stated, motor tech will happen for sure. Probably like last year, have a tech station as early as registration day.

This is the plan at the moment.

The track will be prepped, either blown off, sprayed, or both. Spraying had been eliminated at the facility because it degraded the track surface, but this does not matter so much any more. Once we get to the track to check the condition of the surface (hoping Saturday if the weather cooperates), we will decide what to do.

I prefer no spray as it widens the line and improves racing, makes it easier to let people by, etc. But there is a point where lack of grip hurts racing. Our plan is to make the last race at Tamiya the best one yet so we will do what is necessary to make this happen.

We pre-teched motors last year and that is what we plan to do this year. We are limited to the testing equipment we have on hand and the resistance data that we collect.

If anyone feels that people got away with something, manipulated motors after the fact, etc., please let me know so that we can take the necessary steps to correct the problem.

Ultimately, we have to place some trust in the racers when it comes to following the rules.

Thoughts?
