I have a question : Do you guys use those belt-tensioner bar (mounted on the upperdeck)?. Is that really work?

Speedo: I am 25 with two kids and a wife that loves Borders and Hastings book stores. So there isn't much money to go around for me either! I'm not a big fan of the car every couple of months either. Its hard on people who like to have the newest car.

I have gotten to the point where I just don't see the similarities between the cars anymore. I think its because I don't really want to see them. I hope the cars can be unique in their own little way. I see the new Schumacher and even if there are slight similarities, I look at their history, and they have never needed to copy anyone to achieve wins. So why would they start now when they are winning at least one national championship every year?

Personally, I love the XXX-S. I like the batmobile look of it. I am a big fan of it and the new Kyosho. They are different and it obviously took some scrap of personal thought to come up with their designs.

That news is a surprise to me though. I did not know they had achieved any major success with the Special so far. I guess you learn something new every day.

LOL Darkside Yeah, I hate buying something, then seeing that something new has come out! That's why I always look at the pentium site when we get a new computer to see if anything better has come out yet! LOL I got my special just after our TC season ended this spring, took it up for a spin, and haven't touched it since. So I would at least like to finish this coming season with it! Maybe even part of the season afterward. I still think there is a similarity here, but I don't care. I'de love to see a company that wasn't afraid of putting something on their car "claimed" by a previous company. X-ray is a good example, it looks like a corally, but just now they have come out with a one belt conversion for it, because the XXX-S has proved that works! I love that! If a company would just design a car on what works best, instead of using somthing new every time (which isn't bad) because some other company has already got the optimal idea, they could design an awesome car!

I called Chris Tosolini today and he confirmed that Barry has quit working/racing for Yokomo.
He couldn't (or didn't want to) tell me what Barry is doing now.

We had Barry and Chris here for a race on July 1 and they were both telling me that they didn't like the special and would rather run the Worlds car. But Yokomo didn't let that happen.

I saw the pics from chicago, showing two X-Ray chassis options.
One with the cells down the opposite side to everyone else, and a single belt prototype transmission.

Are they jumping on a bandwagon perhaps?

I only have a PSone with two games(GT1 and Colin Mcrae rally, I havent used it for AGES!) I am not at all up with the play regarding the new characters

Well that's a bad blow to the team if that is true about Barry. He is very good at finding setups on cars and he can drive like the wind. And he has won a few races along the way as well .

I haven't been able to talk to Yok for a little while. The office has been closed this week. I'll try to confirm this Barry thing on Monday if I can with the team manager. Although alot of times I don't hear this stuff until I read it on the rumor mills..hehe.

And they cant' count on Masami to bail them out of this with a few quick wins, he has his attention focused on the off road sector where Yokomo is developing a new 4wd offroad buggy for the worlds. I just don't believe that you go from winning at least one class every major race, to suddenly winning almost nothing with out some real problems. The problems in this case being drivers that aren't happy with the current car.

Personally I look at it like this, you have to keep your drivers happy. You can't take a car out of their hands that they are winning with and say "here win with this one" if they aren't happy with it. Do you think Ferrari, as mighty as they are, would send Schumacher out there with a car he doesn't like and say "well we know you can do better with the current car, but we insist you race with this one" I...DON"T....think....so!

It is surprising though, I thought what was most important to the big factory teams was winning. I guess its not. I guess its making sure your drivers use the current car, so they can sell more of them.

Speedo: remember you don't have to get the newest car even if they do come out with another one. Like I told you guys before, one of the fastest guys at one of our local tracks, is still using the original MR4tc with almost no hopups. I think he uses the a 1 deg rear toe-in blocks, but thats it! And hes still winning with it.

kentech- How's it going? How has racing been out your way. Our points series starts to day so you know that's sure to be fun. JMO will be one of the guys up front so keeping up with him will be a real chore. He has his special working pretty well. I'm still running the TC3. I have it set up okay for now. I'm still looking for a bit more off power steering. I'll also talk to JMO about this whole Barry thing and see what he knows.

STLNLST: Nice to see ya here. Sent you a mail (hotmail address)...did u not get that? Anyway no more races outdoor this season. Last one 2 weeks ago, before that we had the nats...went quite well for me. Have been running a bit, just testing stuff, but the weather is not that good here now, rains all the time. Most people are waiting for the carpet season but I would like to move outta here now...not another finnish winter!

RBLove: There's a upper front roll bar available from Yokomo. The part# is ZS-412FSP if I remember right. It's goes on top of the turnbuckle.

My opinion on the Barry not racing for Yokomo / him and Chris not liking the new car subject....first off I would not say losing Barry is such a big loss. Of course he is a well known driver but what he has done has not always been positive for Yokomo.....so if they fired him (just rumors) one could understand why... That they don't like the new car is a bit strange to me also cause most people I have talked to have been very happy with the car. It took me quite a while to get it handling well, so the car can be a bit difficult, but now at leat my car is working better than any car I have ever driven. The thing with the Special is that you need to set it up a bit differently. So when u get the car and set it up like the old car and u r not happy with it u cannot just say that u don't like the car. U have to work to make it work like u want....that's what they've got to do with new Ferrari F1 cars as well... I'm not saying that barry and chris has not tried....off course they have. But I just find it strange that most other people seem to be happy with the car..... Again this was just my opinion on the subject...

Yeah, yok makes an upper deck mounted bar, as well as the worlds and pro bars. I think Dave knows the difference, you may want to ask him.

Good to see you back on here kentech! Our carpet season starts in a few weeks also, we are wrapping up the off-road racing.
