Default SC10 Slipper help

Good Evening, I recently got a T/A SC10 in a trade, and decided to throw it together to play around with in the yard. I put some sort of RTR type ESC (Fuze Maybe?), and a castle 3800 4-pole motor on it.

I cannot get the slipper adjusted on this thing to save my life. No matter what, i am getting a lot of slippage. I've bottomed out the nut and still get considerable slip. I did some searching around, and saw that the original white slipper disks were prone to slip because they were pretty much straight plastic and couldnt handle any power. I changed them out for the yellow slippers, and while they are better, it did not fix the issue.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

What^^^^ he said. Slipper slip will sound screechy where a diff "diffs out" will have a nasty ball bearing crunch or click sound. Chances are the diff balls are shot or flat spotted..

Have you tried tightening the diff?

OK, battery just got finished charging, and your suspicion is correct, it was the diff. Just tighten it? or should i just order a rebuild kit?

If it was ran loose for a long time like that I'd rebuild it.
If you tighten it and it improves you run it tight and order rebuild kit and have it ready when and if it goes out

so locking it down will suffice until i can get the rebuild ordered?
Also, should i stay stock or this a good time to upgrade to something else?

I am not a 1/10th guy at all in case it doesnt show lol. I've never owned one to drive. Only traded through them

i had a bad landing over 6 yrs ago and broke and flat spotted the balls so on the cheap I had a bad bearing that had the right ball size in it.. so all I did was used those balls and relubed and greased it. Went full tight backed off 1/8th turn and well 6yrs later still runs with no issues that's with a castle 3800kv on 3s...still get a little click on my sharp turns but that's normal

So I'd say go for it.

I must say that although i am not a 1/10 guy, Im really digging this truck. Diff is tightened down now and i just got finished correctly resetting the slipper. going to go test it out. Thank you very much for the help!

I would have continued to incorrectly blame the slipper for this lol

Its pretty common. I can tell by sound, a slipper is usually very high pitched squeal when the slipper slips, but a diff sound like a screeching noise.

I would definitely suggest rebuilding it, because its easy, its cheap and it makes a huge difference.

No biggie. Although I have a vast variety of trucks and love my big stuff. My sc10 has always been a blast to drive

If your looking for something to bash, you could race also, less maintenence, and heavy duty , put a gear diff in there.
