Default Motor Too Hot

I have an Eb48.4 and I'm running it on a Tekin 3000kv Pro 4 HD with 3s 6500mah 75c Battery

It is getting insanely hot like it came off at 240 yesterday after practice. The gearing was 15/44.

It still comes off 180-190 after 6 mins

What is HAPPENING

Is it a gearing issue?

Is it a problem because of the 3000kv on 3s?

Please help

A few questions.

1: can your car roll unhindered when the motor is removed? There should be zero binding.

2. Are you wide open throttle most of the time?

3: why did you chose a short course motor for a full weight e-buggy?

1. Yes, I can roll the Buggy unhindered

2. No to being WOT

3. It's what I had at the time

I'm working on getting a 1900kv 4s setup

Well the gearing doesn't seem out of the ordinary. And if you're not wide open the whole time then it shouldn't be a matter of amp draw. But I'm thinking the issue could be a combination of ambient temps and the short course motor in a full weight buggy. Though I'm surprised your motor still works after coming off at 240 lol

Hopefully someone has a better solution though.

LOL yeah, it unsoldered my B and C on the motor

And my Ambient temp was in the mid 90's

Yeah I'm thinking it's just not the right motor for the job or the initial solder job had some imperfections in it. I suppose it could be ESC settings if you bought it used. If there is extra timing and boost added, that would cause unnecessary heat.

It might do better on a smaller indoor track though. That's where I run my eb48sl with a short course motor and granted things still get hot, they don't go over 160 after beating the heck out of it.

Yeah, my 4300 HD on 2s never goes over 150 in my 410.3, i had the 3000 HD in it on 3s and it did fine, but man it is not enjoying the E-Buggy

That combo in a full weight e-buggy isn't going to work well. Plus with those motors will go bad quickly after you get them hot. The heat damages the magnets which makes it run hotter, which does more damage etc. It will give up soon. Especially after it desoldered.

Is it the consensus that the motor is not up to the task? Or should I be looking at something else?

Most likely it's just too much weight and drivetrain for that 3000kv.

Yes you need a motor for a 1/8 vehicle. Buy the right tool for the job. Also you probably have done permanent damage to that motor if it was that hot.

Are you still running 3s or did you bump to 4s?

I'm still using my 6500 3s, but I ordered some 5000 4s

I still have plenty of speed and run time with the 3s though
