Ask yourself this:

1. What do you plan to do with the vehicle? (race, bash, etc)

2. if you are racing, what classes are popular at the track and have great turnout?

3. For those classes that are run, are you comfortable running the powerplants they are using (4wd is usually only modified) or at least running with them albiet with a slower motor?

4. (for the XXX-4 selection) is your track bumpy? If so you may want the XX-4 instead.

I think that is about it. Personally with the re-release of the XX-4, I may consider that more so than the XXX-4 but thats me.

Best a luck on what you choose!

I have had HORRIBLE durability problems with my XXX4 G+. On the other hand, I absolutely love my BK2. It's been very good to me.

Also, unless your local track has a very strong 4WD following, you might want to stay away from it. Don't get me wrong: 4WD is a BLAST, but it's only fun if you have people to race with .

If you really want a 4WD and are on a budget, I'd suggest either the XX4 or the Kyosho ZX-5. If money is not an issue, my BJ4 has been a TANK.

just make sure you get the G+ edition and I think there is something else to get with it too but I don't remember.

Honestly, I would go with the XX-4 if I went all losi but its your choice.

if you plan to race make sure whichever car you chose that there's enough of them at your track, there's nothing worse than having your brand new buggy ready to go and being the only one to show up to race.
Personally I love my BK2 and have been running both stock and mod with it and it's a blast.
Good luck!!

The XX-4 is a great car. However, A XXX-4 will have better parts availability. If you are a NOVICE driver, A BK2 would be a better choice because you will have to run a STOCK motor in novice class and a stock motor would be REAL boring in a 4 wheeler!!! I have a BK2, XX-4, and a XXX-4. The BK2 is on the shelf because of the new found excitement in 4 wheel mod at CRCRC.

I have a xxx-4. I think if you want it to be a tank, you would need carbon graphite shock towers, aluminum pivot support set, and maybe an extra belt if you want. So far, my front shocktower and front pivot support are the parts I broke. I also advise you to use a mod motor or even a brushless(novak ss5800 would do).

Here's a link for aftermarket graphite shocktowers:

I hope this would help you if you choose the xxx-4.Other 4wd choices would be the Jconcepts BJ4, Kyosho Lazer ZX-5, Losi xx-4 WE, and others like predator X-10 or (x-factory) X-5. I haven't used a 2wd buggy but many say it's good and many use it too. It's your choice.

Be prepared to do ALOT of wrenching on it. The best thing to do on the front shocktower is to double it up, I've yet to break one. Stock up on front carriers. The only way to find a cheap one is to look around and find a used one. I got mine for 100 bucks, but I was lucky.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great buggy for hard packed tracks, and a blast in competition, but it is alittle bit on the weak side. On the up side, it's super easy to work on once you figure it out, and trust me, you WILL figure it out rather quickly.

If you're really looking for one, Try posting in the
R/C Items: For Sale/Trade section. But wait, I think I saw a xxx4 G+ and ss5800 brushless for sale there. You better check it out. I'm not sure though if it's sold or not yet.
