Default SkyQ Shocks

I recently got a Used slash 4x4 SCT in a trade deal and it came with some blue aluminum shocks with full length threaded bodies. At first I didn't know what they were, then while googling lgc chassis, I found some SkyQ shocks on Amazon. This looks like exactly what they are.
After adjusting the preload all the way down, changing the oil to Losi 30wt and mounting them to the 2nd furthest out mounting hole they seem to perform decently. Even with the preload all the way town, the front is a little firmer than I would like, but overall they work.
Are they better or worse than the stock plastic shocks? IDK since I have not had a chance to compare them on this vehicle.

So that's my opinion and initial impression, now my question(s).
1)Has ANYONE on this board used these? What are your experiences?
2)Does anyone know any springs that will work with these? ( They are quite a bit wider than most shocks on the market. Sorry and I am at work and don't have dimensions at the moment)
