Just wondering what my options are if I ever break my SR outdrives. Maybe I'm too slow to break it.
I use 3.0 bimetal pucks with a shaved gear and everything fits up nicely.

i have noticed thaat some gear boxes have tight spot...if your running mod, i would run it and break it in...it will loosen up..i used an old dog bone and chucked it in my dremel, and ran it in that way...seems to free them up for me..

My SR still has a high spot after 15 packs and my outdrives wobble up and down. Pretty annoying but I love the car.

UPDATE...took the gear box apart last night and made sure all the bearings/inserts were seated correctly and put everything back together. Still had a slight sticking when rotated and I believe it is the spur gear of the differential with the high spot. I used a drill to spin the gears for a minute or so and it loosened up quite a bit. I think once I run a few packs the gears will be smooth.

Thanks for the assistance.

I put the original SR diff in my 22 4.0 and it had a tight spot on it and it went away with running it. My track switched from clay to carpet so I got a diff gear. With the aluminum gear smooth but I switched to the composite gear since I run 17.5 and the tight spot came back but after running it a few times it also went away.

Looking for advice on how to get more steering on my 4.0. New to losi and it pushes real bad going into corners. Run on hard packed clay. Clay and or SS tires on front and same issue.

Default Lay down transmissions

Does anyone have experience with all three, Exotek, 3.0, and 4.0. I'm upgrading all my 3.0's to 4.0s but in my sct I'm using the Exotek which uses the smaller idler and the diff is 2mm higher. Is the 3.0 the same as 4.0 in regards to function and gear placement. The 3.0 would fit better in my sct.

I could not tell a difference between the 3.0 and the exotek laydowns. When I first got the 4.0 the only difference was I felt I could drive it harder more comfortably. My son races a completely upgraded 3.0 with exotek laydown, all the 4.0 (stifzel) parts, and shocks mounted on front of the rear arms. It is hard to tell a difference tell you get to carpet and then I like the 4.0 better. ( sway bars).

My new SR had the same problems. I resolved the high spot by disassembling and reassembling the transmission case. I've discovered that the order of the screws being tightened has an affect. When I originally built the rear of the buggy and tightened the screws in the order as specified in the manual, the transmission case had a high spot and was binding/tight.

After the rear was re-assembled again, I loosened the screws until the high spot went away. I then randomly played around with the order of the screws being tightened until I was able to hand tighten all of the screws without there being a high spot.

I ordered the MIP 17.5 puck system with the hopes of eliminating the wobbling outdrive.

The high spots come from the gears being out of round. Has anyone tried "clocking" the gears (removing and replacing rotated 45deg. from where you pulled it) to see if this can be reduced?
