Getting back into the hobby
Hey guys been out for about 2 years and looking to get back in. New offroad track popped up so i want to get back out there. When i quit a while back i had a Tekno Truggy, Buggy and SCT. Im curious whats the thing to have know. i know things change so fast. i found a good deal on a few used teknos from a buddy that also raced 2 years ago and when our local track closed his stuff has been sitting. Also we all had the DX4s remotes at the time. whats the remote to have. Also i think this time i am just going to run SCT and Truggy.

Tekno is still the way to go. I don't know much about truggy but the sct 410.3 is the best sct on the market period. I do not like spectrum radios. I see alot of people have problems with them. I still favor futaba. See alot of airtronics and radio post

tekno just released a wicked new 1/8 e-buggy, I know you said truggy and sct but it might be worth considering. I like the futaba 4px and there's lots of good reviews on the airtronics m12

I like the tekin is the best esc. Motor I think is personal choice.

I would say welcome but I'm just getting back into it after about 6 years. I had an AE T4.1 truggy but sold it and have been a AE guy. I still have my SC10 FT 4x4 and plan on racing that again, but I recently picked up the TLR 22 3.0 2wd buggy.
I went that route because my local track the buggy classes are the biggest and most consistent. I decided on TLR because it has a good support locally and online, and just wanted to try something new. As well as it has gotten great reviews.
Good luck on which ever way you go. See ya around these forums...

Hey guys i got a good deal on a Tekno SCT410 its about 2 years old but used one race. has a RX8 Gen2 and pro4 HD 4300kv, Hitec 7954 servo. it has a older spektrum dx3s RX/TX but i am thinking of getting a new remote. I did order some batteries as well.
I am looking at Futaba remotes. is it worth the extra money for the 4px or just get the 4pv? or any other suggestions?

Thanks for the input. What makes the 4px so expensive i wonder what more do you get out of it

I think it has the faster response time out of the futaba lineup so you feel more connected to the car. But to get that response time you also need a servo with super quick response as well. So it really ramps up the overall cost to go with those ultra high end radios when the middle of the road units will do just as well at half the cost. So if you were gonna stick with Futaba, I'd get the 4pv instead of spending all that extra dough on the 4px

That's what I am stuck between the futaba 4pv or 4px. I think I will be happy with the 4pv as well lol. I just love the look and color display on the 4px.

Hello from a guy who runs Futaba gear! You can't go wrong with either the PX or the PV. I currently run the Futaba 4PLS. I tried the PX and to me, couldn't justify the cost difference. The PLS, pv and PX all use the same receiver so you've got the ability to upgrade anytime. As my PLS wears out, I'll likely go to the PV. You can't go wrong with either of the three. They are all premium radios. To me, they all have so many features that you'll likely never use. All have the basics that you'll use all the time. Pick the one that feels the most comfortable to you, has an interface that you're comfortable using.

I did get the PX in the end from Tower hobbies becuase of the 72 dollars off a purchase that much so i got it for 448. I could of got 24 dollars off the pv making it 255. I honestly think i would have been okay with either one like you said Alan i just wanted the px haha.
