Bob B 8/10/17 - Should I start with the kit setup?
The kit setup is a great place to start. One other option that many of us start with is Joe's rough track setup. You can find that setup here
In order to run it you need 3x2.1 pistons and 3x2.0 pistons. (They are marked on the sheet as 3.1 and 3.0).

Matt W 7/7/17 - What is overdrive and when should I use it?
The NB48.4 comes stock with a 12t pinion (TKR8152) and the 39t ring (TKR8151) in both the front and rear and the EB48.4 has a 12t pinion (TKR8152B) and the 40t ring (TKR8151B) in both the front and rear.

The two sets of gears are used to overdrive the front of the EBs or underdrive the rear of the NBs. If you have both vehicles and want to try underdrive it's as easy as swapping the front diff and pinion of the EB and the rear diff and pinion of the NB. Underdrive helps on very loose tracks, when you need more on power steering or if the rear of the car feels loose.

Tips and Tricks
Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.

Warranty Policy:

Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:

Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

That’s what I thought was weird. Every thing I heard was go to a longer link when track is loose. So my plan was to try the shortest link possible....then make the longest link possible to compare. I set the buggy down and could tell within a lap it was so much better with the short link. On Sunday (full prep track with water), even with higher grip it wanted to break the back end loose coming out of the corners. Then with the changes...On the dry loose track I was able to take the throttle expo out and it would accelerate straight and hard! Can’t wait to see what it does on the track when it is watered and high(Er) grip!!

the top holes on the tower are low roll the lower holes are for high roll.

I tried the longer links and also noticed improved traction once I started running with with short links too.

The lowest holes on the tower (high roll center) gives the least amount of chassis roll, a low roll center will increase the amount of chassis roll.

Any new car needs about an hour of actual track time before it really feels "correct". This is especially true of 8th scale vehicles.

Starting to work on shock tuning. The stock pistons are 4 x 1.9 holes. The rough track setup sheet shows 3 x 2.1 hole (front) and 3 x 2.0 hole rear pistons. That makes a smaller surface area of holes. So in theory that would slow the shock compression down? Is that correct?

Trying to figure out a rough track shock setup. Would a quick reacting shock work better or a slower stiffer shock work better in the rough?

Driving on a loose dirt, going to a straight away to 180. My rear looses traction when breaking, do you guys set your brake force to less than 100% I already tried to lower my shock oils and spring but still could not perfect the turn unless I really go slow on the straight.

I usually set my brake strength to around 70% on the ESC then dial it in with brake dual rate on my radio. It's very track dependent, but I typically I like my brakes to be as strong as possible without locking up. After dialing in your brakes let us know if you still have off power rear traction issues.

Sounds like it's locking up the tires, definitely turn down the brakes. None of my cars brakes are at 100%.
