Check the size of one of your other ones. It is possible you might be able to use a piece of piano wire (K&S - from a hobby shop) cut to the right length.

I have made many a replacement pin from 1/16th inch piano wire.

Default Gearing/Motor Temp Issue

Forgive me, this us going to be long. I bought a 22sct 3.0 from the owner of our local track. I put my electronics in it but I used his hobbywing just stock ESC and my v4 schuur speed 13.5t motor. He previously had a trinity monster max 13.5 so when I geared it, I matched his gearing. I think the spur is a 76 and the pinion was a 25. I did a full race and motor was 325 degrees F. Yes you read that correctly. Luckily, it somehow still seemed to work fine. So I dropped the pinion tooth to a 21t. After two minutes on the track, it was at 200 degrees F. I have no idea what to do gearing wise. I've been told to make sure no bearings or drivetrain parts are locked up or spinning rough causing extra work. I haven't done that yet but will try to soon. I sure could use some help on ideas/theories and gearing suggestions. Thanks in advance

What's your endbell timing at it could be way to high.

Are you running a fan on the motor?

what does the manual say to gear it at? There’s a chart in there, and then gear down a couple of teeth if you have more of an RPM motor than a torque motor.

If he is running 13.5 the manual says start at 78/21 and go from there so the original 76/25 is quite a bit taller. Especially if there is no fan on the truck.

Assuming the timing is right (big if), I think it’s best to gear it so you hit top speed right before the end of the longest straight. If you’re not hitting top speed, most likely you’re overgeared for the track.

Sorry I didn't realize I had replies. So yeah my gearing was probably a tad bit high. I did not have a fan but I have put one on since then. My endbell timing is around 40 or 42 BUT schuur speed sets it that way from the factory and it is supposed to be optimal. I plan on trying a 19t pinion tomorrow. I may turn the timing down too.

And my spur was actually a 78 like the manual said. I thought it was a 76 but I was wrong. Hopefully at 78 21 I will be closer
