Default will this charger do nimh?

I have a dynamite mega 2 charger the model # is dyn4020 I looked at some new ones on the internet that said they would charge nimh, but my instruction booklet only talks about charging nicad. I just purchased the charger along with a rustler on ebay. The seller said it was a little over a year old.

Pretty much every charger charges that.

thats a timer charger... yes it will charge them, but they wont work well at all... pick up a nice cheap PEAK charger... one that preferrably has adjustable peak detection...

what is your price range for a charger?

The charger has no idea what it is chargeing, and will charge nicad and nimh equally as well.

The difference is in that nimh batteries tend to be a bit more damaged when overcharged where as nicad can handle an over charge and not be damaged as much.

As long as neither is overcharged it will not matter if the charger had a timer or had an elaborate voltage sensing algorithm to detect "full"

peak chargers simply turn off when the battery is full and you do not have to do any math or timing or babysit it. Here's the way I see it, a new user should use a peak charger, a more experienced user can get away with a simple timer charger. This is quite opposite of the way it usually goes because of cost.

You could monitor the temp of the batteries. Do not let them get over 130-140 degrees. Then save your money to get a nice peak charger, like the Duratrax Ice. Good Luck.

Timed Chargers are generally non adjustable, are set on a fixed amperage and have a fixed cutoff timer. With Timed Chargers, you are basically walking in the dark as you would never know if you have undercharged or overcharged the pack.

I would recommend getting the MRC 959.
