Damn now I'm even more confused

Stupid noob.

Ok, what's a spool? What's a clicker? I'm assuming the clicker is the thing that goes click when I push the car right? I'm also assuming that that clicker is so when the front end of the car lands before the rear that the front spins without spinning the belt and affecting the rear of the car? Is that correct?

Not a stupid noob. Eveyone has to learn. Hell, I'm learning a lot about off road lately. I'm an onroad guy with no local track. Gotta race something between trips to LA to race. 4wd buggy is the closest to running an onroad car

Spool= solid/locked front diff. Used a lot in on road. Provides massive amounts of steering exiting corners but you loose a lot of turn in since the front tires aren't allowed to turn independently of each other.

Clicker= The center clicker oneway that allows the front diff to spin independently from the rest of the drivetrain. It allows for the front to spin faster than the rear when needed and gives more steering. A regular oneway like what's used in on road and what the XXX4 uses allows each front wheel to spin totally independently from the drive train and each other forward but locks under acceleration. Worst part about any kind of oneway is you loose front wheel braking. Any 4wd car without oneway in it will stop on a dime as long as the tires can grip. Put the oneway in it and you loose front wheel braking and the car will try and spin out if you're braking too much. It makes the car very unstable under braking. More so than a 2wd car under braking because of the added rotating mass of the larger, heavier front tires, axles, CVD's, outdrives, etc... trying to continue spinning while the rear tires are braking hard.

Probably not man, I might go and watch, but I haven't even been on dirt yet, let alone a track. I got into this late October. Being that Winter starts around August in New England , I haven't had much time to run. This is indoor I assume?

I haven't tried it eithr but there are a couple of modifications you have to do to the bulkhead to get it to work. There are good instructions on http://www.4wdrc.com/tech.htm , plus pics of the front bulkhead modification.

I used my xx4we like this the whole of the 2002 season, between me and my LRP teammate (who was also using that setup) we won pretty much everything, UK nationals, Euro's. very good setup indeed.

You only need to make those modification if you run the apex one-way diff but if you use the Losi XXXs one-way all you need to do is cut the small pips off the drive pully otherwise it is a little on the wide side.
