Is this a classified ad?

Question for you guys using MIP CVDs on the front. What thread and size are the nuts used? The ones provided are to thick and there are not enough threads to get into the nylock part. I need to find some low profile ones. I think they are 8-32, but I'm not positive. Are the rears (dogbones) 10-32?

Apex,
What you want is low-profile 8-32 nuts.

I believe they are the same nut as the MIP CVD rear nuts

Thanks guys. I have visions of both front wheels coming off flying down the front straight the first lap the car takes on the track.

Hey guys !

I just recently bought a xx4 WE, to try getting back into electric racing. I currently race 1/8th scale. My first day out, i broke a front control arm by just barely tapping the plastic lane barrier. I thought this was pretty lame as I wasn't really going that fast. Are the control arms on this car a weak point? or was this a fluke maybe? It not, what are other parts I should stock up on ? Im not a bad driver, not the best, but I just thought this was pretty sad. Any info would be much appreciated !

Thanks,
M.

I have xx-4 xxx-4 and kyosho lazer and for the most part i dont have a problem with breaking parts. one thing i can recommend is try and remember that its electric 4wheeler... they are known to break, and anything can cause it. most people i see that race 4wheel at least in my area, are trigger happy, have too much horsepower in it, or 1/8 guys. going from 1/8 to this car is two different worlds. 1/8 you cna beat the hell out of and they keep going. the xx although more durable than the others, will break. another thing is, how cold or warm is it where your racing. if its cold, car becomes even more brittle.

vic, you are right. most guys are trigger happy. way too much power for there own good. you have to rember you are asking a vehicle with hardly any kickup that weighs 3 1/2 lbs traveling at speed with wheels that are under power not too break. SLOW DOWN TAKE MOTOR OUT AND BE THANKFUL YOU DID NOT HAVE THE FIRST RUN OF THE XXX4. YOU WOULD JUST NIC A TUBE AND IT SNAP A ARM.

Well, Thats true, im just a clunky old 1/8th scale guy

Im not bagging on the car. The little time I got with it my first time out was really fun ! It is very smooth, and accelerates like no tomarrow. Im also not going to say I wasnt guilty of being a tad bit trigger happy! But with an 11x2, 3800 cells, and a novak GTB can you really blame me for being excited?

I was just looking for some honest opinions on weak areas this car may have. Ill tell you one thing, for as indestructable as you all may think 1/8th scale buggies might be.....they break too. And when a fellow racer asks us for our thoughts we happily share Im not sure what the apparent pent up rage is with the electric guys towards 1/8th scale is, but it seems its everywhere.......How lame

boltz,

i wasnt cutting on 1/8 guys either...lol sorry its funny to me. i have a 1/8 guy and i am primarily a electric guy. all i am saying is that go from driving a 1/8, where all you do is "punch it" to driving a electric, its two different worlds of driving as far as durablity goes.

Its cool guys

I guess I just took your replies, the wrong way !

Do you guys have any driving tips for me? Do I pretty much need to be perfect with it ? The arm broke in such a weird way, it might have just been a fluke Like I said, this car was really fun , for the little amount I got to drive it ! I guess ill just stock up on spares untill im able to get the hang of it !

Thanks,
M.

i wonder if a racer who drove off road electric, would switch to 1/8 would be better driver since electric sometime requires finese. my gas truck i have limited experience due to my lack of tuning with the motor. so keeping it running was tough. i have noticed that it does require a different style of driving.

I'm going to take an educated guess that it's a graphite car, and you are in a cold-weather climate. Just remember this little equation:

(Cold weather + graphite components) * corrugated drain-tile tube track barriers = easily broken brittle suspension & parts

It's not you, and it's not the car, its physics. Plastic parts are more durable than graphite in the colder months.
