WisRacr1-It's actually FANTOM.Fantom does not actually MAKE motor's they TUNE them. They are what is considered a aftermarket tuner such as Team Br00d,Putnam,Kisbey,Lightspeed,Express,DC motorsports,Banzia,Birdman and MANY MANY others.

They take Epic Motor's(Trinity) and buy them in what they call OEM form. They come with no sticker,no packaging,no brushes or springs.
The tuner then do a list of things:
Zap Magnets,
True Comms,
Shim the armature in the can to be in the center of the "FIELD"
Align the Brush Hoods,Install their brushes and springs and Waaalaaa you have a aftermarket stock motor.Sometimes they are even sold with a Dyno Printout. While this helps compare motor's WITHIN the same brand it's pretty much pointless to compare 2 companies sheets due to their Dyno Settings.
If your not a tuner yourself and in the Expert Stock Class at your local track then it's best to buy a pretuned motor.
Any of the brands listed above are ALL reputable tuner's.You cant really go wrong with any of them.

Paradox(Black Canned Motor)-Trinity's 1st rebuildable motor.TONS of torque and great for small tracks. Can be geared HIGH to create RPM.

P2k(Gold Canned Motor)-Still alot of torque with decent RPM.Used alot in trucks or buggies when the track is small or having a really TIGHT infield.
Usually geared 1-3 teeth higher than a monster stock.

GM3(Green)-Great Oval Motor,In offroad they are kinda fragile.RPMish type motor and if geared right on a open type track they run well.

P2k2(Black with a GOLD Tint)-Probally one of the best all around stock motor's made.Great for tight tracks as well as flowing tracks.Great Torque and good RPM.Usually geared 1-2 teeth higher than a Monster.Great for Trucks

Monster(Teal Colored)-Great motor for bigger tracks.RPMish motor and if your using this on a tight track you may have to gear it LOW to get the grunt you need.
Great Buggy Motor's.

Binary Stock(Grey Silver look)-HIGH RPM motor. Not recommended for truck unless it's oval or a BIG flowing track. If you do it needs a 15-16 tooth pinion compared to a 18-20 on a P2k.Great Buggy Motor if the track isnt too tight.

So in all you can buy a motor from Fantom or one of the other tuners in all these Variety's usually.

My question would be what are you putting it in and what is your track size and layout? Is it a LONG straight but everything else is tight?
Is it a small track but alot of straightaways.
All this will help in making a decision for a motor.

Hope this helps and have fun.
Les

Thanks for the input and sorry for the SP. I thought this was the case...but how would I go about learning on how to become a tuner of stock motors? Whatequipment do I need to buy to do so, and what classes, if any, should I take to learn the right way to do it?

For trucks try the P2K2 motors and in buggy the Monster Stock Pro works great.

i miss my stock days, thats the good old days of easy driving and no tuning. just charge the battery and go. I had the midnight, midnight 2 pro, the green machine, monster stock, epic, p2k pro... just to name a few. I felt that all gave great performance and if i had to pick one i would probably pick the midnight 2 pro. I used to get a lot of compliments on how fast the truck seemed to everyone and they used to bust my chops that i was using a mod for stock racing
