XX-4 Front A-Arms breaking constantly
Are these things weak or what? I've broken 3 so far. Do they get more brittle in the cold or something? Does anybody make a more durable one?
Thanks, Kevin

FroBoy is correct. If your running in cold weather(45 degree's or less) they can be VERY fragile.
If you cant find Stifzell one's(Losi's regular composite) then you can take the graphite one's and hold them in Boiling water for a bit to make them flex a lil more.
P.S.When I say Hold I mean with a tool of some kind or a Big Spoon. Not your hand.
P.S.S.QUIT HITTING STUFF

I don't think anyone made delerin arms for the XX4 I know there were some for the XXX4. Do you run a brace of any kind across the front of the hinge pins if you do take this off as it will stop the bulk head from flexing as it is better to let the bulkhead break first. Plus the bulkhead is cheaper and easier to get hold of if you do break it

Yeah, the xxx-4 is all set. Those arms are like rocks. The xx-4 arms look like toof picks. I do have the brace, bought one for the new one I'm assembling as well. I'll be ordering 10 sets of these arms end of the week. Can't stand constantly driving to the hobby shop.

Expensive graphite 4wd race car = bad for bashing outdoors in the winter cold
I don't think any graphite parts will hold up well as they get colder. They will get much stiffer with cold temps and be very prone to breakage, like evrything else (short of CNC metals).
There's always REVOS...

www.4wdrc.com has large stocks of all the xx-4 parts that normally break and will continue to stock those parts.

I'd have to say the XX4 arms are the strongest off road arms I've seen. Not by their looks, but after 2 full days of practice and racing with the car, there were a hand full of mistakes that would have broke my old XXX4 without question. Yet not one problem with the XX4.

Well, I'm only going by my experience. I bash. I smash, I flip, I honk and I've never broken an A-arm on my xxx-4. But I haven't used the xxx-4 since I got the xx-4 in October and it sucks because the government shuts the lights off outside at 3pm and when I get home to use it, it's pitch black and 10 degrees out. One slight smack of the curb and I'm done, probably due to the cold. Sucks. You cats in California don't know how lucky you have it with the warm weather 24/7. NEW ENGLAND SUCKS. IT'S LIKE PRISON. 8 MONTHS OF CRAP, YES, 8. THEN 2 MONTHS OF RAIN AND 2 MONTHS OF 100% HUMIDITY. No wonder people around here are such *****les.
