Default Grease / Lube

What are you cats using for a lube agent/grease?

IE: On metal dogbone drive shafts, pivot points, bearings, etc.

WD-40 seems to attract too much dirt and makes more of a mess than it's worth.

Thanks

2Stroketim, you ask 10 people this question you will get 10 different answers. But for me personally I use Acer sin oil in my bearings, this stuff is awesome for that. As for drive shafts that use dog bones I would recommend some dry lube, like the kind used on bicycle chains.

I kinda figured that everyone would have their own ideas, just wanted to see what everyone was using.

I've been using the WD-40 Silicone formula, but I'm not liking it too much.

Back in my motocross days, we used BelRay waterproof grease for bearings, and pivot points - I may give that a try

Bearings - slip oil, no grease.

CVD's, AE black grease, or a good synthetic grease.

Marvel Mystery Oil in an old motor lubing dropper. I don't lube cvd's at all in my 1/10 scale electrics. The pins to the outdrives wear out before the joints do IMO, oil/grease just makes the joints collect dirt.

Has anyone tried LPS 1 lube? We used to use it in a plant where I worked. I've never tried it on an RC vehicle, but it seems to actually repel dirt. I've thought of ordering some to try

LPS 1 lube would be good on dog bones and arms, etc but not bearings. Its a dry lube, probably Teflon. A thin oil, even synthetic is needed for bearings. Never use WD40 on bearings. Theres a long explanation why, not going into it here.

Good point. I don't lube my bearings. We run Boca Green Seals. They're packed with grease from the factory, and the seals are tight from the inner to the outer race. Not the best from a rolling resistance standpoint, but good for club level racing and damn near bulletproof.

Dry lubes or semi dry (Boeshield T9) on cvd/Universal's. Any light oil in 1/10 bearings, light grease in 1/8 bearings.

Key to success with dry lubes: apply 10+ hours prior to use so all the carrier evaporates.
