I've had vrp pistons awhile. doing a shock rebuild it occurred to me this valve is floating and must need a rebuild or to be replaced at some point. What's the racing life (2x per week) of the valve and does it make sense to replace the whole piston? Think I only saw hard valves separate. Thx!!

I personally have ran a set for over a year with zero issues. Running twice a week, You are good for a while. If for some reason you ever needed or wanted to replace them, just send us an email and we will be glad to send you some.

The hard valves are a tuning option. They are something to try on a high bite track, as they slow down the rebound.

Thanks! BTW - you guys ever mix the EU with regular pistons? KYO doesn't have a 2 hole 1.7 piston so was thinking of doing the EU front and regular Rear in a separate set of shocks? I understand some are for higher vs lower grip, but can you elaborate on the real world difference feel between the two? Running medium/med-high bite clay on treads in buggy thx!!

Diameter is the same, Cant remember exactly, but the difference is about 1mm in length.
I see two versions of pistons. One lists Associated and the other is associated with a few other manufacturers. Which piston did you end up buying?

Thanks

I personally have never mixed them. The standard XV2 is great for low-med-high grip. The EU has a slightly thinner sidewall that allows for smoother action while retaining the same pack. Also, the rebound hole has been drilled to a certain size which we have found to be best for high grip.

You need the VRP pistons for the V2 Associated screw mount, not the e-clip. If you are looking on Amain they have them listed as "VRP 12mm Associated V2" in the title. VRP has them listed easier like this.

VRP 'X' Pistons 2 Hole 1.6mm

y'all have got me on the train and I just placed an order for 1.4 3 hole eu's for my b6 rears as I'm on super high grip astro. I figure it's worth a try and we'll see if it helps settle things down.

Looking forward to finding out!

Got it. Thanks guys.. here are some comparison pics from xb2 to b6 chrome units. 23 and 27 lengths. They are pretty close. Threads are shorter on associated.

You will really like the eu on high bite. Makes the car more stable and easier to drive on high grip surfaces.

Currently use 1.6 2 hole front and 1.4 3 hole rear. What would the impact of having 1.4 3 hole fronts have? I dont know much about what the additional holes do for pack and if that added pack/velocity of oil movement will limit steering at higher speeds, etc. anyone opine? thx!

Looks like the associated kit has washers that won't go in the bottom like instruction prescribe. Anyone else run into this?

Did you get the problems you had before with the car sorted? Last time I saw you
post you had ride height issues and where running roll centers quite a bit higher
than stock.

They are in! The AE v2 pistons are too loose for the xb2 shock bore. Hopefully when dedicated pistons come out, this will be fixed. As they stand, accelerated wear might be possible.

2 hole 1.6 and 1.4 3 hole in rear. 25wt associated oil all around.

Lengths are close to xray and can be manipulated. I'm gonna shorten the fronts, my springs are loose at full droop.
