Default Duratrax 18th scale Vendetta

Hello all I got one of this little gems only because my LHS got them in for special preview and saw how nice they really are.
They come stock with oil filled shocks
aluminum hop ups included.
Full size servo for really nice cornering..yea even on those tiny tracks.
Nice tires that accually hook up....
Hex wheel adaptors so you can put TC tires right on it right out of the box no $20.00 hop up for that...
The list goes on and on....
I put in my Mamba 6500 and this little buggy rocks..
Took it to Hot Rod hobbies to put it throught the passes...
WOW is all I am going to say. It flys strait, handles the big stuff real nice and can clear a triple no problem. THat is a Hot Rod Hobbies triple which is more like a Quad. I did break but it was a very hard landing and it was my own fault too heavy on the brake..What I broke...a knuckle...I have beaten this thing so hard since and nothing has broke....I hope that everyone will at least look closely at one of these.

I have done nothing to it except the Mamba and buying a 13t pinion for a tiny track at my LHS. So for those that are in the market for a new 18th scale...
Don't be afraid of the Duratrax name on this one....

If there is any setup help people want to share...
That is what this thread is for...
Have fun and enjoy,
-Shookie <><

That's good to know. At least Duratrax finally got the praise they needed.

Now, I wonder if Yokomo and LRP will still bring out their versions. If so, then that would probably stuff things up for Duratrax.

I saw a video and it looks like a great car, really handled the jumps. Wasn't bouncy or out of control like some minis i've seen.

I just placed the order for mine from Tower and got free shipping! Shipping deal ends today for those who want to cash in on it.

Sounds like the Mamba 6500 is a brushless motor system. What other 380 size motors are out there?

I'm finally getting back into R/C after selling my Losi XX a couple years ago. I thought this would be a fun, inexpensive way to get into a 4wd buggy. I look forward to reading more comments in this thread!

I raced it yesterday and broke a lower front arm, now the problem is that we'll have no spare parts in germany before february...
Has anybody an idea where i can order parts for the car without creditcard?? Paypal would be good....

I had that same problem.....

I got mine from my Local Hobby Shop.....

They got them from Great Planes Distributing.....

Not sure if you can get them through them or not.....

Also one item I know I will get is the Aluminum CVD's.....
I know they are Garenteed but MAN....I broke four in three days...Granted I played very hard with it......LOL
But man the Aluminum ones are pricey...
Here have a look
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLXX3&P=7
So far that is the only hop up I can think of.....The front is a bit heavy in the air so maybe some rear aluminum hubs
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLXX7&P=7
Those and maybe these also...
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLXY8&P=7
Just cause I think I am going to switch to the Losi Mini T shocks anyhow...LOL

Default Vendetta

I had the Vendetta racing for a full ten minutes before getting slammed into the wall at the local track... amazed to find it only broke the knuckle, but again, no parts availible. In the US the Vendetta has a parts warrenty. SO I sent it out and to my astonishment the part was covered and back in my hands within a week... nice! Since that I have decked the little bullet out. You can see my mods in the message boards of www.mimxra.com complete with pictures and all.

They are the style of 1/8 scale but they are not sealed in the since that they are just screwed shut without any sealer...You just use diff grease in the gear diff. If and when the ball diffs get out I am going to make mine ball diff. The gears are great for durability but not for smoothness...
I love mine just wish that the Aluminum CVD's weren't so expencive....Come on 30.00US for two cvds....I can get the best CVD's for my 1/10 for that amount...Sheesh..LOL

Hopefully GPM bring out a line of alloy parts for it which will be cheaper then the Duratrax ones. I love mine, but broke a rear drive shaft.

Hey Shookie did you have any probs putting in the Mamba? I was told it wouldn't work because the Mamba has a 2mm pinion shaft and The Vendetta uses a 2.3mm

You have to be creative to get the perfect fit...LOL
I took some thin aluminum or other kind of tape wraped it I think twice and the pinion fit perfect, Granted about every ten runs I would replace or check it.
I am really liking the high RPM VS3 motor they brought out, Real nice and man it has some power. We have a small indoor dirt track that we run on and the High RPM motor is almost too much for the track. So right now I am thinking of selling my mamba 6800 and the Computer link. If anyone is interseted I am selling them both for $110.00 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states.

Vendetta and grit (sand/little stones)

Hi,

I was looking for a vehicle which can withstand outdoor track and all it's debris.
One which can be runned a long the beach without getting sand or grit stuck between the gears (spur and pinion). This is quite annoying.

Currently, I'm using the RC18T and can't use the car outdoor on the sandy environment (the Gulf).
What's your experience with the Vendetta?

Thanks a lot for your feedback!!
