Arrow INVERTED MAINS.... WHATS THE VERDICT?

I HAVE NOTICED MORE AND MORE THAT THE EUROPEAN THETRE OF RACING IN THE HIGHER LEVELS ARE INVERTING THEIR MAINS FROM THE QUALIFIERS, PUSHING THE TQ TO THE BACK AND THE SLOWEST TO THE FRONT.

PERSONALLY I LIKE THE IDEA OF REALLY MAKING THESE TOP DRIVERS WORK THE FIELD INSTEAD OF POUNCE TO A EARLY LEAD AND START LAPPING PEOPLE. I DONT KNOW HOW MANY RACES IVE SEEN THE POLE RACE NOT PASS ONE SINGLE TIME IN THE WHOLE RACE AND THATS NOT REALLY FUN OR ENTERTAINING TO WATCH..

I LIKE THE IDEA, WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS?

It sounds like a neat idea, but what prevents a driver from trying to place say 8th in the quals, so that he can be in poll position for the main? Or am i not understanding how they are doing this?

At what races does this occur? I have never seen it any any high level event.
Why penalize the fastest guys?

I have been crashed in the 1st turn too many times by a guy who runs up front starting in the back and trying to make it up in the 1st lap. NO thanks , not interested.

Negates the purpose of qualifying. It's a no. R/C racing is not for spectators, it's for the participants.

Rolling starts alleviate this problem. (IFMAR I believe)

Like said above, why penalize the fast guy? He earned the TQ/pole for being good/fast. IMO, if you're going to invert mains and just jack it all up, you might as well eliminate qualifying altogether. What's the point?

Warehouse 3 in AZ had the Dirt Invert race for a couple years...seemed like a fun format.

Qualifying was run as normal.
A1 Main was based on qualifying
A2 Main was started based on finishing order of A1 main, finish first in A1=start last in A2.
A3 Main was started based on finishing order of A2 main.

All 3 mains counted toward final points.

at are track for club racing we tried that moto cross style qualifying.
you get more head to head racing then qualifying.

the idea was to get newer drives better at starts instead of pile ups
in the first turn.

it was fun.

Boyle did it at HT one night, for mod buggy. It put Chuck in the back and Travis up front for the start, and it was a hack fest for poor Chuck, seems like every car he passed was beating the brakes off him.

The only inverts we do at are track is when we run a big Sprint Car Nationals race and we run it just like the real tracks do. We do qualifying the same and starting positions for the main the same. Other than a fun race that is the only time I saw inverted starts.

This is a different concept from that.

Man, what a terrible idea. I envision qualifiers for stock buggy... 30 drivers running 25.5 motors, in reverse, with servos reversed, body on backwards, front tires on the rears, all getting under 1 lap per qual, fighting for last place.

Oh, and your caps key appears to be stuck.

Only placed I've seen this is in one of our tracks when they do the dash for cash race. Top six drivers start with the TQ been on #6 spot. But is the dash for cash only and in one time the made us drive the track backwards... That was fun, and interesting.
