Default Durable advise for Kyosho SP2 or MBX-5 Prospec

Hi,

I am thinking bettween these two buggies. Which one is more durable and better? As i notice other thing..... Kyosho SP2 just came out not long ago which mean should be a while before next new model came out BUT MBX-5 has been out over 2 years, are they going to change very soon.

Thanks.

look, all arms break with big enough hit, they are actually desinged to break, so other things dont break, like hing pins etc...

what is important to me are the diffs. coz they should NEVER wear out during a race.

i been running the x5 for over 2 years all on the original diffs and they are still in great condition... i can't say the same for kyosho diffs.

only thing i dont like about the x5 are the shock bodies are a bit weak.

I would rather replace Kyosho internal diff gears every 6-8 gallons than Mugen diff oil every race.

because the diffs leak because of the orings. Just get some carolina rc orings and problem solved

I would say go with the SP2, however I would also recommend a few parts to buy & replace the originals that are included in the kit, such as the Chassis supports, get some rubber sealed bearings (Avid bearings from www.avidrc.com $1. each), & a stainless steel screw kit & you will have one Awesome buggy!!!

There all good. Flip a coin. I personally would go with the mbx5, sp2, Or you could wait for the new jammin x1. Just supposed to be few upgrades nothing major. The only flaw I have with kyosho is I use to have a kanai 2 and a kanai 3 is they just upgrade to a newer model to much for me. I remember being so pissed when I bought the k3 the first week it was out and two months later I heard of the 777sp1 coming out in a few months time. It just ticked me off when I just dropped 650.00 dollars on the k3. But Im glad to see them release a sp2 conversion kit for the sp1 thou, Hopefully they will keep that up. Ever consider getting a k2? It still is a very capable car and you can get them fairly cheap now and I bet you would be with in a half second a lap time with a k2 . Again dont anyone take offense to me saying that about kyosho, They do make awesome buggies.

SP2 and MBX-5 Prospec are same price. But the MBX-5 is already out over 2 yrs and may see the new model coming out soon. Sounds like they both are great buggy. Personally, I feel the MBX-5 Prospec options parts looks more durable and stronger than SP2. Correct me if i am wrong.....

Thanks.

flip a coin

i already told you, everything on the outside breaks if you hit it hard enough, but it takes a very big hit to break sp2 towers or prospec towers,

and plastic arms / bushings wears and develops slop after a few months and need to be replaced wether it is broken or not, its all part of the maintenance of offroad buggys. if u can't afford a few arms then you can't afford a pro level buggy.

what u cant see are the diffs/pinions, and internally and externally my x5 diffs have gone about 20gallons, 2 years of racing, and are still perfect condition.
