Damn, tekno cars must be so good that manufacturers give up making their own design. Smart I guess. Just copy the best buggy, make a few differences with chassis width and small stuff and call it a serpent. Why waste your money with this crap when the eb48.4 is superior. Steering is strong, responsive yet the car is so stable. Big update on the overaggressive 48.3. Plus tekno has the smoothest drivetrain and can take a beating like a Mugen.

Its not like comparing a MBX7R to an RC8B3

Completely different suspension geometry, completely different steering knuckle type... center diff and battery layout inspired by Tekno, most likely. 1 similarity, must be a clone lol. If anything, it looks most like a Kyosho MP9 or HB D815

Serpent-The whole layout is the same. Battery, servo, motor, esc and receiver box all in the same places. Not too much of a big deal since their suspension package, front and rear seems different. Mugen, Kyosho, tlr and tekno are the true innovators in this class. They prove there is more than one way to design cars capable of racing at top level.
Engineers that say "this or that is proven to be good, so we did the same with our car," aren't really making their own design. It take r n d to figure out something that works, before calling it proven. Something the 4 brands mentioned all put effort to do well before another engineer says its proven and will bum off of them their designs. Those brands that put the effort to make completely original cars deserve all the credit. Most of the others simply take what they like from them and put it in their car.
This car isn't a clone of tekno, but there's no doubt Serpent still took some from tekno. I thought the older serpent buggy was very original, and surprised that their new one is not.

True, it's not like ae that can't design a 1/8 buggy. Failed attempts, drama, firing the engineer and what not. Not so bad that after market parts like front downforce can be used for both cars only.

The tekno layout is nothing original. Its been around in TC for many years even before the TC3. Yes it has been refined since then but isnt everything just a refinement in rc to continue development for better products for the customers?
You can see in the link below here where the original tekno ebuggy came from or was at least based off of including a lot of cars before then, so really you can say everyone is copying everyone and making small refinements on the way which make better products for everyone!

The new Serpent buggy can be made to the layout of the old serpent ebuggy, with a conversion of a street price of only $30. So this buggy you can have an old serpent buggy and use the same batteries you used before if you liked that layout or chose the brick style layout that comes in the kit.

Tlr is and has always been original also. The most unique car brand. They follow no one for sure. For me I don't like the steering feel, but it's a very capable car that many like.
The Japanese brands have been doing this for the longest time. Every unoriginal brand would base their cars off of them. Calm stable steering and nothing matches them on bumpy tracks.
All four are original. They have their own driving feel and made their own design. A lot of effort, creativity, trial and error which is costly, time consuming and hard to develop things the honest way. Something I appreciate. The moment any of them start doing things the weasely way I'd hammer tekno or whoever just as hard.

anyway what serpent did isn't terrible like what ae did, so I don't want to bash serpent any further. Most of their cars have been unique in their own way. Plus they make quality parts.
