I also have one of those. I got it in Dec 2005. It went pretty fast out of the box. It was $125. But it broke....

My brother-in-law just got one of these blue Radio Shack ATVs from Goodwill, but, of course, there's a problem.
It didn't come with a remote control or a battery pack, but after a quick trip to Radio Shack, they fixed him up.
As soon as you power it on, the front tires start to slowly turn to the left.

Using the remote, I can make the tires turn to the left quicker, but then after they are turned, they won't straighten back out or turn to the right.

Is it a lost cause, or should I try to fix it?
Thanks!
Well at this point it is good for nothing anyway so why not just open it up and see what it has inside. Maybe it has a standard steering servo that is broke that can be replaced with something inexpensive from a hobby shop.

I have 3 of them. 1/8 scale shocks fit and they are sort of cool. There was a guy at a different forum that made a conversion for one and it was honestly the coolest thing I have ever seen and that is saying a LOT.

Found it....

Well, I took it apart to see about the motor.
Could the motor be bad?
Just thinking about it, I would think that the receiver would not be getting the signal correct from the remote and giving the wrong signal to the motor.
But then again, I'm not familiar with radio signals and such.

Did you try just recentering the servo saver/arm on the servo? That might be all that is needed.

Looks pretty cool actually.

I found one of these in a junk shop, but no TX or battery. I stripped it down, toke out electronics and am in the process of retro fitting it with my Specktrum digital TX/RX that I use on my Heli's and airplanes. Only using original frame, motor and new motor controler interface to the new RX.

My problem is that the rear differential has a stripped gear in it.

If anyone has a working rear axle for this I would really like to get it (or just the gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John
