2016 Cactus Classic
#1

I'm surprised there hasn't been a post yet for this years Cactus Classic. This is my first year going and I'm pretty pumped. Anyone have any advice for the event? I've stocked up on plenty of Jconcepts smoothies, does anyone know if you are aloud to sauce? If so what is the sauce of choice? I also read that last year they charged to bring in outside food and for spectators. Does anyone know if it will be the same this year? Looking for any pointers

Track build is going on now and it looks pretty good. The guys running smoothies I think are using diesel for sauce. Some are using liquid wrench. The rule is tires can't be wet when going on the track, but enforcement is very little. Good luck.

That this is in fact now "the thread" for one of the world's biggest remaining dirt/clay races about a week from it's start speaks volumes about the actual level of buzz surrounding it. Entries look pretty thin with only three classes having more than 19 as of this post. For that matter, if anyone wants to say they made an A-main at a race as prestigious as the Cactus (was), it appears that even at this late date, just signing up for 13.5 SC, Mod SC or 4wd SC will let you "accomplish" that goal.

17.5 will have a branded spec tire, and mod will be open IIRC. They still charge for outside food, and still disallow person protection items within the building. The neighborhood is still hardcore ghetto, so keep an eye on everything. The bathrooms will surely all be closed again, so be prepared to make trips back to your hotel.
