How many entries a couple years back, 400 or 500 or so?

We have multi track series weekend events that push into the low 200s I think it is. Several of them even.

2014 had near 400 entries.
2015 had over 53 mains.
2016 with the current sign-ups and triple A for the mod classes = 37 mains.

Big drop! BTW 2014 was outdoor, 2015 was first year indoor, and now people know the issues at SRS and elected not to come.

i.e. Ty Tessman who is the 2WD 2015 Champ did not show. He could be going the Silver State next week and may have decided to put track time there instead?

Ty was at the Chi-Town race last weekend, I'm not sure he's ever attended that race before. I'm not sure how many other true Pro drivers were there, but it certainly wasn't the usual bunch. 330+ entries for a "mid-west" race.

alot more events these days competing for drivers interests, and you can't expect to attend them all, tessman raced at proline chi-town race last weekend, had to skip a race to more than likely attend the silver state nitro race next weekend.

two NASCAR races raised the hotel prices in PHX, imo vastly raising the costs for some, making the Proline Cactus Classic too expensive to attend.
imo, to move the race to another month would have the same drastic results.

Hotels have always been pricey for cactus as spring training is in full swing during this time. But yes, I'm sure nascar didn't help out.

Entries are down for sure from last year alone,
Could be any number of reasons for that. Any one of them could be valid.
At the end of the day, it is what it is. If things are to get better for the event, I would hope all parties involved will make the needed changes in order to get it there. Don't know if that'll happen, but both times I've attended the event (last outdoor, first indoor) I had a good time while there.

Maifield is one of the worlds best RC car drivers. like many pros he does not have to race at or live near any track to win, which he has proven. top tier pros travel a lot and have adapt insanely fast to a myriad of dirt, clay, carpet, and more surfaces deemed as offroad. maybe a off weekend for him, and his focus is actually on another upcoming event

There is a reason he doesn't race at srs often.
